Luke 17:14 has the plural 'priests' (and there is some evidence to suggest the two healings were somehow combined in the Marcionite gospel). Epiphanius seems to imply the Marcionites did not have 'the gift' but one wonders if Epiphanius is inferring this from his source who cites Luke 5:14 (= i.e. without 'the gift' for this information). I don't think Epiphanius's evidence for what appears or does not appear in the Marcionite gospel is necessarily decisive. He could (like us) be gleaning information about the exact reading of the Marcionite text from his anti-Marcionite source but presenting his inferences about the text as fact.

This may be so, but so far as I can see, has little to do with the OP. That was answered a number of posts ago. So it now looks like you are opening the barn door to begin again to ride your Marcion hobby horse. And if I've in any way encouraged you, or given you license, to do so, I apologize to the List. That was not my intention in giving the texts of Clement or Epiphanius.
