Which isn't much different from many of the best scholars in the business - take Mark Goodacre's millionth attempt to show that the founding documents of orthodox Christianity are our best and most reliable source of information about the early Church. Goodacre of course is a thousand times smarter, better informed and has more skills than these guys. But to be fair he's motivated by the same prejudices that these guys are, albeit for a completely opposite purpose and with greater cleverness and in better company. Nevertheless animal behavior can be found in human beings.

In the FWIW department, you have never impressed me with your critical skills either -- or with your ability to judge even handedly what's what or to present the views of other you disagree with in more than a strawman fashion or your actual familiarity with biblical scholarship. (Didn't you once ask who Ed Sanders was?). You've only given me more grounds for thinking that you are really not much more than a dilletante with this ad hominem against Mark Goodacre. And look at the loaded language you use -- "millionth time"?

And as to animal behavior being found in human being, yes -- since you've just provided an example of it.

I see. Well let's start at the beginning. I am not a professional scholar. It is an informal forum. And you seem to have only come here to pick fights with intellectual inferiors which seems to strike me as a tad unfair. I mean I only started fighting with people here after attempting to make friends with them. You came out of the gate swinging against people whom we all know are easy targets.

I brought up Goodacre because I thought it was applicable and because there is a part of me that has always felt uncomfortable with bullying. I am not sure that standing up to bullies is an animal behavior. I have done my share of Pete-bashing. But whenever I have attacked someone it is after attempting - however unsuccessfully to make them see the light of reason. Your attack seems only motivated to humiliate them.

I can't watch a pitbull maul a pack of rats without feeling compassion for the rats. That's human, all too human behavior.

Wow - as someone who has been on the receiving end of Stephan's bullying for the past couple of years - words fail me.....

Maybe I think you are my intellectual equal. Maybe our arguments are more like those of a married couple or a mother and son relationship because of our familiarity. Nietzsche went mad watching a man whip a sick horse. There are distinctions to be made here. I may not like or agree with this rogues gallery but I wouldn't want to watch them have their brains bashed in. For better or worse, they're sort of like family. Yuck.

Have you read MG's book on GThomas and the Gospels?

How interesting -- especially since up until the point where I noted what I thought of your critical abilities, you were cheering me on.

What did you just lose your job or something? It's immaterial to the discussion about whether I have noticed a pattern of behavior from Goodacre. I do not reference the book directly in my written post.

Oh I see and that means that when I brought up Goodacre I wasn't attempting to give these guys an intellectual justification for their misguided efforts. And I do support your attacks against any member of the forum including me.
