God may have invented whisky but it took the Irish to invent whiskey.
That's the reason the Irish will never join with the Scots.
That "e" is almost exactly the same amount of difference between the Prods and the Catholics and they kill one another. I shudder to imagine the mayhem that would break out over the number of times mash should be distilled--which is actually something important.

Default A major exception

The combination of fundimental religion and right wing politics is quite unerving to me.

I was thubing through some old dilbert comics and ran across one in which he is given "the project that wouldn't die" and the boss's instructions were "now go out there are maintain the status quo!" This seems to be the rallying cry of both the fundies and the super conservitives. They see anything new and challeging as an affront to the established order. Orthodoxy and autocracy. . . . .oh joy
I agree about "White Christian Fundy Fecocephalics" but there is a major exception according to what I have read. That is African-Americans. They are as an ethnic group, the most religious in America. They are largely Bible Believing Christian Fundamentalists but they led the Civil Rights movement with Rev. Martin Luther King Jr and Jesse Jackson. I forget the names of the other leaders but I think the civil rights movement was called the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. They vote Democrat or Liberal. Of course their history is quite different from the local White Christian Fundies who unsuccessfully fought racial desegration, abortion rights, and forced school prayer. In fact it was those three court decisions that galvanised the American Right Wing Fundamentalist insertion into politics.

People who tend toward fundamentalism have a particularly weak ego that cannot sustain any difference, any challenges to its own identity, since any affront to their established beliefs is capable of destroying their ego. Therefore they must bind themselves together under a strict ideology--insisting that all people in their group must share the same opinion with them on all matters.

On the other hand, those with a strong mind usually drift apart from one another, form their own opinion on most matters in accordance to their own experiences, and change as they see fit. They are willing to pick and choose what is good for them from a variety of ideas, without relying on any universal authority to legitimize their viewpoint. These characteristics are what thinkers and creators are made of.
I sometimes call someone's post excellent, but this one is brilliant. I have never seen such a well structured, concise, and plausible explanation of the fundamentalistic mindset. I would like to save this, if I can have your permission.

Thank you. I would like to post it on some European forums and will attribute it to you. Once I tranlate it into French, that is.

You are right, it was your post and I quoted it above as yours. but I must have copied it and somehow thought it was mine. Then I posted it as mine. I deeply apologise to you and all on the forum. It was a bad thing to happen. Believe it or not somehow I didn't realise at the time that it was plagiarism.

Unfortunatly I can't seem to delete it or I would. I sent a message to the moderator to delete that post and those that followed by me, except this apology. If the moderator does not delete it I will ask the Administrator to intervene, and as a last resort I will quit this forum. I promise you that.

Sorry, actually I had complimented your post in my response to you. I guess it was so good it stuck in my head. I don't think I have done that before, or I will enter myself into my Alzheimer's Diesase study.
