I haven't read through the thread, but I think you can sort of talk about morality without having choice...
e.g. things can still be considered "good" or "bad" from a person's or a society's point of view.
I think it is irrelevant whether people can "really" choose or not as far as our treatment of criminal offenders goes... preventing and discouraging crimes would still be necessary for societies, in the same way that it is necessary to wash your hands from germs even though the germs act in fairly deterministic ways...
