Yes, but this time, for once, she has a point!

Evolution is promoted by its practitioners as more than mere science. Evolution is promulgated as an ideology, a secular religion -- a full-fledged alternative to Christianity, with meaning and morality. I am an ardent evolutionist and an ex-Christian, but I must admit that in this one complaint -- and Mr. Gish is but one of many to make it -- the literalists are absolutely right. Evolution is a religion. This was true of evolution in the beginning, and it is true of evolution still today.

Commentary like this is dangerous and stupid. It plays into the hands of unscrupulous power-hungry authoritarians like Gish. I'm sure it will be widely quoted by them, Evolution is not a religion or an ideology, but a theory about how life changed over time.

And to think that <a href="http://iidb.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=44&t=000221&p=1" target="_blank">she said</a> :

Quote:
I leave with no regrets except that I didn't leave sooner... I feel like God has told me that I need to leave. I've been getting closer and closer to Him, which excites me. I don't want to quench the Spirit, so I will obey Him.
Either God changed His mind, or He just wasn't exciting enough.

Religion involve the worship of a God or gods, since evolution can't said to have a God for worship, it is not a religion.

Not all religions involve belief in/worship of god(s). Cast your net a bit wider!

I disagree that one cannot draw any moral conclusions from evolution. Evolutionary theory is not about morality, but surely if we think that human beings are a kind of ape rather than that they are beings who have experienced a fall from perfection because a distant ancestor ate an apple, that gives us a distinct starting point for philosophy and ethics.
