Hi. A guy I know sent me an email about something called "Glyconutrition" here is the link he included.

When he was explaining what it is to me, I thought to myself "sounds like bunk" but I didn't dismiss it out of hand. He said he'd emial me infomation about it, and I thought I'd look at it, then look up some sceptical information on the net, then send him an email debunking it. Thing is, I can't find any sceptical info on the net about it, I tried Quackwatch, and some other sites, but a search there doesnt come up with anything. The whole thing reeks of bunk, but I guess it's always possible it's for real. Has anyone come into contact with Glyco-nutrition before, or know of some sceptical recources on the net?

I just found that Mannatech, the company that makes this stuff, is a garden variety MLM scam company.

Just scanning over the site gives me the impression that you could get all those sugars just by eating your fruits and vegetables like a good kid. And they even say that your body can typically make them all from glucose. Pretty elaborate site - it makes me wonder just how much money they plan to make.

On a related and serious note, there is a legitimate area of current research generally called "glycobiology." The ACS publication Chemical Reviews had a thematic issue dedicated to the field just this past February.
