Default Matthew 10:32-37 - The Spirit Did Not Come to Bring a Sword

THE SPIRIT CAME TO BRING PEACE
[ ] = Read out proposed editor's insertions
{ } = Read in proposed editors removals

(32)"Whoever acknowledges [me] {the Spirit of God} [before men],
[I] {God} will also acknowledge him [before my Father] in heaven.

(33)But whoever disowns [me] {the Spirit of God} [before men], [I] {God} will disown him [before my Father] in heaven.

(34)"Do not suppose that [I] {the Spirit} [have] {has} come to bring [peace] {a sword} to the earth.

The Spirit did not come to bring [peace] {a sword}, but [a sword] {peace}.

(35)For [I] {the Spirit} [have] {has} come to turn
'{the spirit of} a man [against] {towards} his father,
{the spirit of} a daughter [against] {towards} her mother,
{the spirit of} a daughter-in-law [against] {towards} her mother-in-law'{.} (Mal.4:6 - NOT Micah.7.6)

[ -- a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.']

(37)"Anyone who {does not} love[s] his father or mother
[more than me]
is not worthy of [me] {the Spirit};
********

Puts a slightly different complexion on the history!

I suppose it does. But so does this:

[Whoever] {Billy Bob} [acknowledges] {scratches} [me] {his back} [before] {after} [men] {dinner},
[I] {He} [will also] {doesn't however} [acknowledge] {scratch}[him] {it} [before] {after} [my Father in heaven] {the salad is served}.

[But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.]
{I don't think scratching your back is a very classy thing to do during a dinner party in any case}.
