Post C-S views of Baptist Joint Committee

<a href="http://www.bjcpa.org/NewFiles/CStodayfolder/viewsfolder/views.html" target="_blank">Baptist Joint Committee</a>

Everyone knows about the famous Jefferson letter to the Danbury Baptists. Not everyone knows that they were actually in favor of a strong separation between church and state.

Some Baptists still seem to be.

The link above could prove useful when debating theists who do not appreciate C-SS. While I don't agree with everything they say, they do appear to strongly support C-SS.

Edit to add their <a href="http://www.bjcpa.org/NewFiles/aboutusfolder/aboutus.html" target="_blank">Home Page</a>

A good reference.

These Baptists seem to be aligned with <a href="http://www.au.org" target="_blank">Americans United for Separation of Church and State</a> on most issues. (They provide a link to AU on their links page, as well as <a href="http://www.pfaw.org" target="_blank">People for the American Way</a>.)

But they were not principled or brave enough to actually support the removal of "under God" from the Pledge, although <a href="http://www.bjcpa.org/NewFiles/CStodayfolder/newsfolder/07.02.pledgestatement.html" target="_blank">their statement</a> on the Pledge contains a lot of good reasons why they should have.

A point in their favor is
<a href="http://www.bjcpa.org/NewFiles/CStodayfolder/viewsfolder/jbwanswers.html" target="_blank">the enmity towards them from Focus on the Family and the Southern Baptist Convention</a>.
