I have to say that if somebody wants to come here and say that Wicca is evil, we would be far better off actually explaining to him precisely why it is not rather than banning the thread.

I regularly attack creationists in the creationist/evolution forum and I'm the f**king moderator.

I am quite prepared to defend Wicca as not being evil, and I fell very strongly that this forum is PRECISELY the place for it to happen.

But I still don't understand why a thread specifically attacking a one of the religions this forum was set up to discuss should be moved to another forum.

This forum in my understanding is for real discussions of religions other than xianity. If anyone came here screaming out their own views why buddhism, taoism, wicca etc... are evil, I'll try to defend them but when someone came along using his/her religion to point out how superior theirs is etc... I'm going to give them hell & make sure the thread either ends up in Humour or somewhere else.

As one of the moderators here, I closed both of the threads in question. I'll take responsibility if this was the incorrect action. The reasons I closed them were are follows.

a) This IS a forum for discussing religions and philosophies, even for attacking them. It is not the forum for rants based exclusively from within the Abrahamic world-view. Any response to the original thread would clearly have become a critique and discussion about the poster's assumptions (for which there are many other forums), and not a critique or discussion about Wicca.

b) It contained a VERY thinly veiled death threat. I did not feel it appropriate to just pop it over into another forum and onto another moderator's lap.

Perhaps I should have moved it as the administrators have done. If I have overstepped my responsibilities, I'll wear the criticism.

As it was just a trolling effort, I admire the speed and surgical precision which it was dealt with.

Well, I was a bit dismayed by all the closings and the movings. This guy is a total creep, although his POV is quite normal among many Christians and that is what is frightening. Thankfully, most of those who frequent this forum need not even defend Wicca because most here are not gullible enough to believe the Christian crap, more or less their ill founded attacks on other religions. I could surely write an epic (and have in Catholic and Christian forums) about the real beliefs of Wicca, but I found it point less here. Especially because he seems to be a hit and run poster attempting to drum up some sort of ruckus! Now, had it been one of the other Christian regulars, I would have gladly debated their malignant views.

Now, if anyone is interested in having a serious discussion about Wicca or Witchcraft, then I am sure there are a few of us that would be happy to do our best to impart our knowledge to the crowd. Otherwise, it is a waste of my valuable time to defend something that needs no defense amongst those intelligent enough to understand the difference between fallacious lies and reality.

Now, that is a breath of fresh air in comparison to the beating I have taken in Christian forums!
