I assume you mean except the diagnosis of Bi-polar by performing a simple blood test showing NO lithium carbonate in a person's bloodstream whereas 'normal' people synthesize and retain this chemical.

As for the rise of Prozac and the like...I would point to an attitude in society that there is something wrong with being sad or down or depressed..I acknowledge that there is clinical depression which can hint at a serious chemical imbalance...but the idea that life should be free of grief, pain, anger, strife, or worry?? Where did people get that idea?? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
