Maybe it was in 1966, but I don't think that is at all true anymore. Molecular biology is everywhere in the discipline, from ecology to systematics to physiology to genetics (OK, maybe not so much in anatomy, but that has its own, even longer association with evolution) so that it takes willful incompetence to avoid the evolutionary implications of every aspect of the science.

You simply can't be a good biologist without acceptance and understanding of the general principles of evolution. It's like trying to be a structural engineer while denying the idea of gravity.

I have two good friends with advanced degrees in the biological sciences who are creationists. They simply deny everything that they have been taught. Which is one of the things that has pushed me away from Christianity. If you have to deny reality to believe, what good is faith?
