It really is hilarious. Almost as funny as the abstract to his wind-breaking -- sorry, groundbreaking -- position paper. But much, much shorter.

Hey. I... Hmm...

Well at least I was annoying long before most. I had this nick way back on CompuServe CB chat before the internet went public.

I think pz was just joking with KCdgw, and perhaps even poking fun at himself. Maybe?

Well, pz can get away with it-- he's a celebrity. I, on the other hand, have no excuse

Cheers,

Two consonants, that's all! Not all that unpronounceable for someone like me, who had the advantage (?) of growing up in Wales, where two consonants together is somewhat less than child's play.

The account in the OP is really worrying. These people have a political agenda as well as everything else, and if their modus operandi is to distort and silence the opposition while pretedning not ot do so, I'd like to know how they think they're any better than the communist governments. Where does it say in the Bible that believing in Jesus makes this sort of thing OK although it's bad if atheists do it?

Could someone address Rufus's question, please? Being a computer idiot, I don't know how these boards work, but what would have been involved in a hostile takeover and why was it allowed to continue for amore than a few minutes?

I've run some similar software on my machines, and I don't see how anyone can take over without the owner's consent. Concievably, if I gave someone administrator status, they could get in and change passwords so that other administrators couldn't log in...but since I have physical access to my computers, I could fairly easily get back in and correct that.

I imagine that if the guy who is in charge of the server hardware (Richard Carrier?) went insane and decided to lock everyone out at some low level in the software, he could temporarily screw up the site. That isn't likely, I suspect.

Otherwise, I suspect simple incompetence on the part of the owner, who trusted people with maintenance of the software and didn't know himself how to run things.

I suspect that the "hostile takeover" was analagous to what Chis Langan and parrot tried to do with ARN. Williams and Remine probably appeared as "big names" and began touting their status to the administrators of the board, who were impressed (or cowed) into giving in to some of their requests, eventually leading to their moderator status. When the other moderators try to protest, W & M viciously attack those persons and then go to the administrators to say that such-and-so isn't being a team player. In frustration, the original moderators quit leaving W & M to run the show. It's basically what Langan and lap dog tried to do with ARN, but they never got to the moderator stage (though they tried). But they did suceed in changing the moderation, and in making at least one moderator quit in disgust. So I doubt that it had to do with savvy computer skills; rather, I think it had to do with muscling their way in by trading on their status in creationist circles, and then solidifying their power through intimidation.

....which is the sort of behaviour they'd doubtless condemn very lodly if it were being done by any other group.
