In our local bookstore the science display has started to include astrology books. Pretty depressing.

I did come across one bookstore where Icons of Evolution was the only biology book in the whole place (apart from nature books). Course, the entire science section consisted of about ten books while the religion section went on for shelves and shelves. Just shows the relative interest among the public in that area, I suppose.

I agree wholeheartedly.

But it is hard to argue with Nic Tamzek's logic of being an informed skeptic.

There are enough copies floating around. If you can't bring yourself to buy it, borrow it from a friend or library.

I tried reading it. It made my stomach turn. (Not as bad as Phillip Johnson's awful, awful "Darwin on Trial".)

Book stores are not libraries, and their intent is not to educate, it's to sell books and make money. But I'm reluctant to encourage them to carry books like Darwin's Black Box, or the publishers to print them. But I agree we need to know what we're up against, so do what I did: buy it at a used book store. I have to confess I never made it all the way through, although I did force myself to read "Darwin on Trial" (also from a used book store) and found enough wrong with it that I wrote a very length review of it on amazon.com.

I read The Wedge of Truth . Its half-truths and ignorant declarations made me realize just how desperately these people need to manipulate public opinion instead of doing science.

Cheers.

I had a little think about this, and I have to say: bloody good job! Religion sections are browsed particularly by those with an interest in multiple perspectives on religion rather than those who are very certain about their own. I would not be surprised if the religion section isn't the first stop for people who have started growing a bit doubtful about theism and are seeking clarification.

Dawkins' books will now be reaching the audience that most needs to read them. Given The Blind Watchmakers track record of deconversions you may have made a little boo boo?
