Not really a valid question; after all, one could both believe in the supernatural and accept big bang + evolution as scientifically valid mechanisms (or theories) that explain what we see in the physical universe.

Yes. You mean that you didn't realize that Theodosius Dobzhansky, who was one of the pioneers of population genetics and from a family of Russian Orthodox clergy, was very devout Christian man? If you knew anything about evolution you'd know that there is nothing in it that prevents people from reconciling it with their faith. You're stereotyping theists based on a few nutjobs and thus building massive strawmen.

I know a lot about evolution. I've taken many clasees, and read many books. I don't know everything, but I do know a lot.

....That's the way to teach your Kid what being one-of-us-here is ABOUT! (re your post, that he came home & told you his teach' said he HAD to say the Pledge, and you set him & the Teacher straight about THAT! YESSSSSSSSS! )
I remember nearly 35 yrs ago MY kid was about YR kid's age and Sam & I went around several rounds with various people about similar stuff. One ended-up with his (otherwise-very-decent-guy) BLACK elementary-school principal's response to my son's well-organized student petition >>>> Mr. Brooks announced "This school does NOT operate by petition." I wrote him a polite letter (He & I were on very good terms, in fact.) and told him, "You've dropped the ball, Mr Brooks."
Sheesh; he'd had a chance to TEACH those children something....

You/anyone can learn a hell of a lot by sending a child to (public, or sectarian, either) school in this culcher, I tell ya...
