Not only did Jason G violate the "rules" but proceded to brag about it. These people are pathetic.
Jason G is my least favorite type of creationist. They enter the conversation all "open-minded". Both sides have decent discussions. However, this creationist will believe in something so awfully untrue, such as Hovind or some statistic. You prove through more and more evidence that they are wrong and in the end, they put up the creationist wall. They used you to just waste your time and they are, in the end, no better than the Socrates of the web boards. What makes me hate them most is that they are just playing you, the "evolutionist". They don't give a damn about what they are talking about. Such a waste!

Depends. Pilgrim is the only moderator that I've bumped into that is on the level all the time. Dee Dee Warren seems to be all over the place. The Five Solas and Sherbear are very careful as to where they decide to intervene, but usually end up showing off the atheist worse than the creationist.

One of my first larger threads at TWeb was created with great unwarranted disdain by moderator RightIdea. At the time Calvinist was also a moderator. I was kinda surprised at their attitudes. I was far from abusive.

This is the BS of that site, they are initiating the poor demeanor, but then try and blame the atheists for the attitudes.

I grow impatient and weary of Socrates. He is insulting, abrasive, and rude. Unless, of course, you sing the praises of AiG, or some such. Then, he becomes the sweetist of fellows.

That he is protected, there can be no doubt. If I were a mod there, with the rules that are in place, a large percentage of his shit would go down in flames. Hell, they'd crash and burn even under much looser rules. Rudeness and abuse is not to be tolorated. Calling GeorgeWHerbert a bigot, with a straight face, should have been more than enough to put him at least on moderation.

I've saved the list that Jason G. posted. Take the religion away from the science, and it'll make an excellent reference. No matter how foul the landscape, one still might find a gem.

I just noticed. JasonG has a profile here, though he hasn't posted yet. Maybe I'll PM him. We need some fresh creationist meat in here.

Yeah, it has gotten a little slow, hasn't it.

I want Socrates in here, juvenile insults, frothing rants, and all. But, he'd never show up where he'd be on equal terms with people who are highly qualified in their fields, in a "gutter"site such as this one. Safer to snuggle in at TW, where he's something of a folk hero, and not run the risk of getting his ass burned. Pity. But, if the cards get dealt just so, I'll graciously offer him an invitation, never the less.

Of course Sarfati would be unwilling to play on a level playing field so the next comment is sort of moot...

If we do ever could get him, could we get people to agree not to call him "SocRAT" or the like.

People spending time in that board might want to collect some of the more outrageous things he writes. This is so we can quote them elsewhere. I recall a post or two which I am too lazy at the moment to try to find which he called people nasty names in the same breath as complaining about ad hominem attacks.

Someone might want to post a few to the talk.origins newsgroup so they will saved for posterity by Google.

It's funny that Socrates' vicious drivel gets reported either nothing happens, or a moderator shows up and gives the "ye hypocrites" speech about there being complaints only about Socrates.

Anyway, I agree with whoever said that calling the guy "SocRat", "Socretin", etc. is just stooping down to his level.

That's okay, George proceded to kick his ass anyway. Socrates didn't realize that George has worked with plenty of korean engineers before. A little hard to accuse George of bigotry when the koreans themselves confirm that they write their papers just like every other professional does.

And you're right, Socrates would never enter into a level playing field. Or worse, one where the posters were allowed to be just as rude and abrasive as he is (unmoderated USENET newsgroups come to mind). Somehow I doubt he'll ever come play any place where his opponents are allowed to fight back without Nanny Moderator keeping him from the hiding that he richly deserves.

Notice that Socrates hasn't had anything to say since George's last ass kicking? Weasel is right. I notice that creationists never admit that they're wrong about a point. They either suddenly drop the argument or try and brush it aside with, "But that doesn't really matter because..."

This is all reminding me why I quickly made the decision not to post or even read over at TheologyWeb or Christian Forums. I can surely find better things to do. George, on the other hand, hasn't had any nutcase VonDanikinites to chew up lately, so he hasn't been fighting pseudoscience much this month.
