For your information, the Jesus of the 21 century as selected by Rome is black.
Ok, then show me... show me your European-black-Nazarene, Amos.

a black Christ selected by Rome...now that's a laugh.

I do not know what Wizadry is thinking...but this thread belongs there and nowhere else.

I do not know why atheist and theist alike hate it. (At least that's something they both agree on.)

I do not know if it's spelled as Alanis or Allanis.

I do not know why the earth is round...

Gawd, there's plenty of things I don't know. But this much I know: the song is beautiful because it force you to think of Christ or God in a different perspective. What if God was a man? Not just a man, but a beggar, all dirty and ugly, would you, theist, let him in your house?

What if God wasn't the blue-eyes, blonde hair Jesus that you know of since Highschool? What if he looks more like Osama Bin Laden (and this I like to point out, he does)?

The response to this song you get from theist is very disappointing. They can't think of Jesus as someone who is ugly. They can't think of Jesus as a beggar, an inmate or something connected with the down and the unfortunate.

Jesus, to them, is physically attractive and materially well- off (is that how you spell it...it's one of those things I don't know). Have you ever seen a Christ in rag?

Case in point Catholic can't stand their deities being ugly and poor.

Catholics, how shallow and vain can you get!

But I trust Amos to tell me otherwise. I can already picture what he is going to say:

But all I have written do no make sense, because it was transferred by Gandalf a.k.a Wizadry to the Pop Culture

Um... maybe I'm missing the point, but if you wanted to start a thread about Alanis Morrisette, why did you post the lyrics to a song by Joan Osborne?

The bloody chorus to this song has been stuck in my mind for almost a week now!

Quote:
What if god was one of us?
Just a hip-po-pot-amus,
A duck billed platypus,
Being hand fed in the zoo.
The song does bring up a good question. In fact, I think it alludes to the subconscious reality that god is truly one of us because he is a figment of the population's, in general, imagination. God is here, because he is in the mind of all people, however, stuck in the prison of the cortex of theist's minds. He will forever be trapped there. I think the song does a great job in exposing the fraud of theism.

That was well said, Jimmy.

Joan Osborne? Who is she? I thought what's-her-face sang that song. The chick what was married to Kurt Cobain. Oh yeah - Courtney Love, I thought it was her band Poison (or does she call it Garbage?) released it?

What a beautifully confused soundbite! Very pleasing, for some reason I cannot articulate.
