If it turns out to be true, it would still be extremely hard to explain all the negative crap christianity has produced satisfactorily that I would accept Jesus as my personal savior and all that stuff.

If it couldn't be explained satisfactorily, then I guess I'm going to hell.

Christianity has got to be one of the strangest and oddest things mankind has ever come up with. Thinking about it is like having bees living in your head. In any case, as far as I can tell it is mainly about death, so I will wait until I am dead to sort the whole thing out. In the meantime I will live life as if it were everything.

To be fair, emphryio, the bible says nothing about a "personal savior."

If it were true, it would be provable as such, in which case I'd have no choice but to accept the facts, if I am honest with myself.

I make every effort to be as honest with myself as I possibly can, notwithstanding blows to my pride. No matter what, I'd rather be right--according to all the facts available to me--than hardheaded and wrong. (Hardheaded and wrong is characterized by ongoing cognitive dissonance. I was there for 18+ years. Swallowing my pride and admitting mistakes/ignorance is far easier.)

I'm wondering about the reason for this question, though. The hypothetical question proves nothing, does it? Can you explain what, exactly, you trying to see clearly? Is it a fear of hell you can't quite relinquish? What?

For christianity to be proven true, it would have to iron out all the contradictions and inconsistencies within the bible. So, in my opinion, to prove itself true, christianity would have to show/explain how god can be loving and still manage to be, as I see it, an 'evil prick'. If christianity was able to do this then I would have no choice but to accept it. I would have no reason not to.
However, if the laws of logic hold fast then i guess it won't be done.

Diana: I'm wondering if say, God came down and appeared to you personally, and said " well I do exist, so, what'll it be? heaven or hell?". What your answer would be. Eg: "no because I hate the idea of hell" or "yes, now I know that you exist-sure!!". Something along those lines anyway.

This is similar to the old theist argument of "what will you do if it is true and you meet Jesus in heaven?" to which I normally reply "spit on him for 2000 years of hell on earth!".
