Sounds simple, so there's no problem. Yet I'm at a loss to explain the spread of HIV to a new generation, and a resurgence of the infection rate on the heels of HAART treatments. Surely there must be something else going on. As I recall in the mid 1990s the CDC thought they had a handle on the epidemic in the gay community. I’m concerned because MDR microbes are a growing threat. It appears to me after 20 years we’ve made no progress. Granted, multi-drug therapies have greatly reduced the death rate and slowed the disease's progression, but it would appear these treatments have been a signal to hiv+ gays and bi to take the gloves off and party.

(dk): I was talking about “The Gay Agenda” written by Jack Nichols, the foreword was written by George Weinberg.
(Fr Andrew): Jack Nichols didn't "invent" the term "homophobia" to "disparage Christians as fundamentally psychotic" as you say he did. That's indoctrination.
George Weinberg coined the term "homophobia" to describe an attitude.
That's education.
dk Really, my google search on "site:edu homophob Christian" found no end to the anti-Christian rheteric. I don't know what to tell you Andrew, but this indicates indoctrination, and genuine hostility directed at Christians. What is political correctness?

Then why mention it?!?!?

You are without a doubt the undisputed master of the fallacy of distraction.

Fr. Andrew never said that there was no hostility directed at Christians. He never said there was no anti-Christian rhetoric. He said explicitly that the man who coined the term "homophobia" did NOT do so in order to disparage Christians. But instead of addressing his actual statement, you run to Google and grab a bunch of references where someone said something bad about Christians or some group of Christians because of their stance against homosexuality. Surely you can see that this has nothing whatever to do with what he wrote?

This is yet another fallacy of distraction in a veritable flood of them. Why do you continue to resort to such tactics? Do you have any real arguments to offer or must you continue with this plethora of distractions?

Not at all. You are conflating "revulsion" and "morality". The two are not necessarily equal which is exactly what I have been attempting to demonstrate, apparently without success.

I find coprophagy revolting, but is it immoral?

Yes, based on either some objective standard of morality or societal consensus. If the former, explaining it will again lead you to an apparently unsupportable assertion; if the latter, we can just as properly confer non-human status on blacks as we can rationalize homosexuality.
This is a false dichotomy. "Objective morality" and "societal consensus" do *not* form an exhaustive set of possible moral schema. I could recommend some readings in moral philosophy or ethics if you're interested.

Even so, if "societal consensus" were not amenable, it would not lead to "non-human status" for blacks. However, it is interesting to note that some believers in objective morality were virtually certain that blacks were *not* humans until relatively recently. In fact, some still are. Obviously "objective" morality is subject to some similar concerns.

It does prove conclusively that it's not self-evidently immoral. I would agree with you that it's immoral, but not self-evidently so. How would you explain otherwise that some people don't see it so? That would seem to plainly contradict the meaning of "self-evident."

(dk): Yet I'm at a loss to explain the spread of HIV to a new generation, and a resurgence of the infection rate on the heels of HAART treatments. Surely there must be something else going on.
(Fr Andrew): I'd say it's complacency among adolescent gay men, for the most part. And, as you allude, faith in science.
A combination of the "It won't happen to me" attitude, and the "There'll be a cure before I have to worry about it" attitude.

(dk): Really, my google search on "site:edu homophob Christian" found no end to the anti-Christian rheteric.
(Fr Andrew): Well, knock me down! A search for Christian homophobia turned up anti-Christian rhetoric. Who'da thunk it?

(dk): I don't know what to tell you Fr Andrew, but this indicates indoctrination, and genuine hostility directed at Christians.
(Fr Andrew): It may very well do all of that...but what you can tell me is how it pertains to George Weinberg's motivation for recognizing and researching a phenomenon and coining the term "homophobia" to describe it?

Is there an echo here...or didn't that defense bomb in the last thread you used it in? I mean, seriously, from 30k feet right into the ground bomb? Wasn't the topic something about gays destroying families or some such tripe? Come on, at least try something original. That was the ugliest loss in 10 years, and you want to try it again?

No Bill. The master of something ascribes a certain talent at pulling it off. This is SPAMMING by the use of DISCTRACTION. He cannot be ascribed a talent at it since it is readily obvious that is what he's doing. And he does it in every argument. Getting him to actually address a point instead of spamming from right wing sites is why we left him the "gay's destroying america's families" in the first place. I know you're a big boy, but he will drive you nuts and you'll have nothing to show for it because he is the magus of right wing social spam. Give up now, while your sanity remains.
