Talking Rummy makes me laugh.

That Rummy is such a funny guy. Check out the following article:

Rumsfeld Says Iraq No Quagmire or Guerrilla War

Quote:
Rumsfeld also accused some members of the news media, who he did not identify, of hoping Iraq becomes another Vietnam.

When a reporter identified the Vietnam War during the briefing as "your classic quagmire," Rumsfeld cut her off and said: "There are so many cartoons where people, press people, are saying, 'Is it Vietnam yet?' hoping it is and wondering if it is. And it isn't. It's a different time. It's a different era. It's a different place."

[...]

Rumsfeld said the United States faced "a period of chaos and confusion" in its early years, including a depression, rampant inflation, no stable currency and mob uprisings.

"It took eight years before the founders finally adopted our Constitution and inaugurated our first president," he said, adding later: "Were we in a quagmire for eight years? I would think not. We were in a process ... evolving from a monarchy into a democracy."
Well, at least he's not trying to draw analogies to situations that were of a different time and place, like that rude reporter was...

So... does that last sentence mean that Rummy does accept evolutionary theory? Maybe there's hope for the old boy yet!

I would probably also respond with contempt to someone who used the phrase "your classic quagmire" especially if they were earnest.

These statements by Rummy seem to remind of that "it´s not the polution, it´s the impurities in the water" thing, by Dubya!! Do they share the same speech writer??
Never have i seen such a group of men, in charge of such big responsabilities!! If we add up the total of Bush´s cabinet member´s IQ, all combined they are sure to be well over 80 points!! George "Dubya" Bush contributes with a "huge" part of it, with his gran total of 40 IQ points!! Negatives!!
It´s a big confort to see such "wise" men in charge of the largest nuclear arsenal on Earth...
Judging by Rummy´s statements, i would bet he was wearing the shared brain that day!!
Who´s wearing it this week? It must be Ashcroft´s turn now, right?
I just hope they don´t stress the brain too much, the last time Ashcroft had it on it went into overdrive, from all that morning singing. It was sizzling hot and smoke was coming out off the top of his wigg!!Or is it a "tuppeé" ? (how do you spell that?)
The only time the brain has some rest and time for a breather, is when Dubya wears it!! He is still struggling to figure out how to work the damn thing...
And when no one is wearing the brain (wich is most of the time), they dunk the darn thing in crude oil to preserve it! They say it works better than formaldehide (Again, how do you spell that?)!!
It´s a pretty picture, no?

Today, the Bush administration has put out a $25 million reward for Saddam and $15 million for either of his sons (full story). But remember, this is not a guerilla war.

Really we're still in the early stages of this thing from the standpoint of the calendar. I think it may be more than many people bargained for -- including the Bush administration -- but there's time yet.

However, the things that really bother me, though, is not the time factor thus far but the attitudes taken by U.S. commanders in Iraq which are variously anger at poor planning and chest-pounding about how America will "impose" its will on Iraq. I'm also troubled by the oil-grabbing and contract siezing that seems to supercede all else. I'm further troubled by the way the Administration tries to paint some of the resisting Iraqi people with the broad brush of "pro-Saddamism". What an ignorant approach that is. It only digs us deeper into trouble by exposing that we do not have a clue as to what to do over there. The latest "bring 'em on" theatrics by Bush only underscores this. The entire nation -- not just Saddam -- is quickly becoming the enemy. That is a total failure down to the last straw.

This all bodes very poorly for the outcome of this. I would like to think that a sane administration would try to correct itself and its approaches, but alas, it seems that the demeanors of the Bush Administration officials are frozen in stone and as blinded by ideology, ambition and solipsistic self-righteousness as before.

Yes, he makes me laugh, as well.

But even more so, he makes me moist.

The new argument made by the jackals supporting the administration is that we needed to occupy Iraq to ensure a steady supply of oil to offset any shortages caused when we take Saudi to task for supporting terrorism.

So it WAS really armed robbery, after all. What a suprise...
