Perhaps many atheists still devote time to debunking Christianity due to the fact that they see much evil in Christianity. Many atheists were once Christians and faced religious abuse and still have the scars from their previous religious upbringing. Maybe they think they are doing a service for humanity by helping to loosen the vice-grip of Christianity and it's vengeful from this nation. Thank you.

It's funny how fast Christianity becomes a scourge of the Earth after people profess atheism. All the good they saw in it all those years just kind of seems to evaporate over night.

Maybe we were just indoctrinated to believe that certain "good" things were the result of Christianity instead of innate human predispositions of behavior. Maybe when we see more of the "story" we come to different conclusions, that Christianity is certainly not all good. Once we begin to question, it's not surprising that the whole belief-system falls like a house of cards, since the presentation of Christianity to most of us was so narrow and one-sided.

LOL; in Holland stores aren't open on sunday period (except perhaps the teeny weeny ones at gass- or railwaystations).

Btw... I don't consider whether god does/doesn't exist a topic for discussion, but rather what always ends up getting in the way when you do try to have a discussion on whatever. To me, the existence of god(s) is the 'complete waste of time' forum here.

What people believe God to be, however, tells you a lot about what they're like. And people are very interresting indeed.

Off course you're but one individual, but the thing with religion is that it's very much an organized thing. Whatever we consider to undermine our quality of life, is usually a collective effort.

Do you btw think religion shouldn't be subjected to critisism? Is the Bible the only earthly product of "fallen sinners" that isn't corrupted by nature? Have no earthly temptations influenced religion whatsoever?

It is not that simple. Either answer would put me in a box where I do not belong.

(1) This statement is too all-inclusive. I know that Christian values play a big part in our government, and I am not displeased by that fact. But this country was founded on freedom of religion.

(2) As a Christian I cannot stop expressing my love for God. But I cannot bring anyone into his embrace. That is between you and God.
