Yes, I appreciate the distinction, but I must ask: what difference does it make?

So one is intentionally deceiving his followers and perhaps the other is unintentionally doing the same thing; so what? The outcome is still the same: a bunch of people are being deceived whether they follow either Mr. Hinn or the Pope.

There is one huge diffence, however: Mr. Hinn influences tens of thousands while the Pope influences hundreds of millions. Ultimately, and irrespective of intentions, the Pope inflicts far more harm than Mr. Hinn.

In that way, the Pope is the greater source of evil, intentionally or not.

Hey everyone. I havn't read this whole thread, but I caught most of the show. Anyways, was it just me, or did it look like the guy slapped or punched people in the face to "heal" them? It looked to me like he'd give them a good wack in the face, they'de fall over backwards, and everyone would praise Jesus.

PS: Dr. Rick, looks like your from Colo too, where at if you dont mind me asking?

As a Christian, let me second Sabine Grant--Hinn is a charlatan and fraud through and through, and I am absolutely amazed at the number of people (unfortunately, many that I know well) who truly believe that crap. Christ was right--the poor will alway be with us, but so will the gullible and stupid.

I went to Carbondale in 1994 to La Foret, the Unitarian summer camp. We went to the hot springs in Glenwood Springs and it was fun. La Foret is at some boys' school on the prairie.

I was in a journal writing class and a lady asked me if I was related to a bunch of people in NE Ohio and she apparently knew some of my cousins and knew Harlan Moody who lived in Snowmass. I forgot her name but she was married to a dr. in Glenwood Springs. The people in NE ohio were my dad's family -- named Moody and Gray. I showed her a pic of dad and she said "Oh he looks just like Uncle Ralph" but we never figured out who Uncle Ralph was.

I've always beent old I looked like dad's side of the family (the Gray side) and it was weird going to Colorado and this lady staring at me for 3 days before she asked me!!! She was short, blonde and in her 50s.

dirkduck and Opera Nut, you are both welcome to visit and stay with me; give me enough notice (four weeks lead time) and I'll even get you and one guest free ski passes to either Aspen Mountain or Snowmass just 35 minutes away.

Hmmm....shouldn't it be us atheists denouncing this guy? It is likely he's an atheist after all - he certainly doesn't seem to believe in divine retribution at least!

A disgusted Christian:

My mother grew up being dragged to healing services like the ones that Binny Hinn supposedly holds. She loved the people in the church - but didn't like the fraud she saw on stage by people like Oral Roberts.

She was extremely glad to leave that environment for a rational Christian experience with God.

I've seen people like Binny before, and I think that they are a blight on the rest of Christians, the majority of whom are not like him.

Please don't let Mr. Hinn give you a bad taste for all of Christendom.

Hello Speechless... I doubt he would be an atheist. He obviously has the concept of a god but not related to the character of Christ. Here is the issue for non theists to denounce Benny Hinn....the guy will use your atheism against yourself " you are attacking God". IMO christians have a duty to expose him. We have the tools to confront him with the teachings of Christ. The man already knows he is not representative of those teachings. He has made a conscious decision to use deceit. The crowds under his control are the ones who need to be reached.
If he loses his audience, he is gone!
