He did it explain it to you - in the Bible - you just don't believe in it. Thats your fault not his. You can get over your arrogant pride, and stop pretending like God has to answer you at your beckon call, or you can continue to reject him and face your fate. ( Yes i know the answer, you are too prideful and will take that pride with you to Hell just like Satan - very sad )

Sigh, i wonder if atheists on this board will ever get a clue and understand theology. Me thinks your only purpose here is to make fun of something you don't even believe in. How about do something constructive and help a world that will disappear for you in a few decades, and stop making yourself look stupid by trying to act like you are better than God?

Well, if you claim to understand theology as it concerns the matter in question, why don't you do something constructive and explain it to us instead of wasting bandwidth with another of your pointless rants?

I am "better" than God, in that I have an important quality it doesn't have: existence in reality.

The more and more i read this board, the more i realize how much we humans truly deserve Hell.

Well, you can go there if you want.

You treat God like crap, assuming He exists, and expect Him to let you into HIS home, and bask in his wonders and love for all eternity - when all you do is hate him? Get over yourself already.

Looks like you're the one that needs to do a little getting over.

God doesn't exist except in your mind. Get over it.

I don't believe in it because, well, it doesn't make any sense. And the bible is a work of men, not of god. Whatever it says is man's attempt at understanding and defining a god concept, not a god's revelation of itself.

You can get over your arrogant pride, and stop pretending like God has to answer you at your beckon call,...

That's "beck and call". And I thought the bible said "Ask, and it shall be given unto you" and similar things.

...or you can continue to reject him and face your fate. ( Yes i know the answer, you are too prideful and will take that pride with you to Hell just like Satan - very sad )

What's "sad" is the feeble attempts at trying to reconcile a god of love with the god that allows suffering and that condemns us to hell.

[Mod hat on]

Magus55,

Your posts look like a tirade of unsubstantiated ad hominems with some in small point buried inside. Please do better than rant and make slurs against the good members of this board.

[Mod hat off]

Now if you would like to debate us on theology, perhaps you can return to the little issue of your unsubstantiated and (currently) rebutted/defeated assertions about Biblical prophecy. Alternatively, we (or I, personally) will be happy to debate you on archaeological evidence, and I'm sure others will take you more seriously when you start providing evidence to back your claims. The ball's in your court, no need to beat your chest uselessly--show us your evidence and argumentation.

Pot calling the kettle black? Or Magus' ignorance in the face of superior intelligence? You decide.

And as usual, you haven't been paying attention, being too busy foaming at the mouth to defend you omnipotent, omniscient god, because of how he reflects on you.

We are. We're discussing a variety of topics in an attempt to understand more about the world around us and each other. You, however are too dogmatic to accept this, and because you have staked your entire identity and worth as a "good person" on this worldview, you lash out like a rabid dog at anyone willing to challenge it.

And by fiat, being his holy servant and all, would this mean you get to share in this responsibility to rule? Time and again with the tone of your posts you demonstrate your willingness to watch others suffer for their beliefs or lack of them. Not because they disagree with your god, but because they disagree with YOU. You picture it in your mind don't you? You can see yourself on a pedestal watching others be judged as you stand by and watch right? Guess what. If you are right, and your god knows all, you'll be the first to suffer Magus.

And that is half of your problem. Putting all matters of god aside, YOU honestly believe that people who disagree with YOU belong in eternal torture. This is only partially obscured by a token reference to love and understanding, a pathetic attempt to not appear as callous and pitiful in your posts.

I don't know too many atheists that assume he exists. I also know many that think that once you die that's it, so it doesn't seem to me like they are expecting anything from this deity of yours. I also do not know many people that actively hate something they don't believe in.

What I do see is hate from you on this board constantly. I see someone who definitely needs to "get over himself" and realize that being a Christian doesn't make him a better person or superior to others. [Edited by moderator--Please refrain from goading users in an upper forum] I see the perfect evidence against religion improving the life of others. I see Magus. Pray Magus that your god is not what you think he is. Pray hard Magus, for if he is, you shall suffer horribly. Magus, if you really believe in this drivel you spout, think about what you would say if you died right now. What would you say arriving at heavens' gate when Jesus asks you. "Magus, what have you done in the last ten minutes to glorify my name.?"

Just in case you don't understand, pal.
We do not treat god like crap. We say god(s) do not exist.

We do not expect him to let us into his home. We say that neither he nor his home exists. Why would we wish to be admitted to an abhorrent place where ecstacy involves watching your friends and family burn in eternal fire? Geddit?

Did you ever read the parable about the priest who prayed in public so that all men would think highly of him? That's YOU, Magus. Yes, YOU. Do you really think that you are better than anyone else? You are doing a pretty good impression of a sanctimonious bastard. If you ever got to meet your god, you'd be burning in hell just like the rest of us!

Your god-monster is capable of drowning almost all known life on earth, and hardly thinks twice about murdering the first born of an entire nation. Do you really think he's going to give a low-life like yourself any chance at all?

Now please present your reasoned arguments, like a good chap, omitting all fallacious ad hominems.

How are we any worse than all the guys in the Bible who denounce "idolatry"?

How about do something constructive and help a world that will disappear for you in a few decades, and stop making yourself look foolish by trying to act like you are better than God?

How do we supposedly do that? Please be specific.

God is sovereign over you, not the other way around - He is in charge not you. You follow him or you face the consequences.

While not bothering to set the record straight by making an unambiguous personal appearance to each and every one of us.

The more and more i read this board, the more i realize how much we humans truly deserve Hell.

One can always send oneself there.

You treat God like crap, assuming He exists, and expect Him to let you into HIS home, and bask in his wonders and love for all eternity - when all you do is hate him? Get over yourself already.

How do we "treat God like crap" and "hate him"? Please be specific.

Any serious deity would find the Bible to be very embarrassing. And it would not be too much for an omnipotent being to make a personal appearance to each and every one of us, in order to set the record straight.

You can get over your arrogant pride, and stop pretending like God has to answer you at your beckon call, or you can continue to reject him and face your fate.

Of course, some other religion may be right and you may end up joining us in That Hot Place.

I wonder why the discussion of persons is more relevant than the discussion I sat out to get thoughts on?

Mageth: God is not
Magus55: God Is

The human perspective isn't relevant here as such, not human to human.

As stated, under the assumption that God Is, how could we understand God's perspective?

Don't discuss, in this thread please, if God is or is not. The discussion is being conducted under the assumption that God is.

Ok. Someone said that our perspective to Reality is flawed, we are imperfect, corresponds to the biblic notion of the imperfect human in the eyes of God. We understand we don't have an objective understanding of Reality that contains the universe. The only way to understand Reality objectively is to be the Reality itself or the universe, in a manner of speaking. If the universe had conciousness it would have an objective understanding of Reality.
God is the creator of Reality and the universe. God is not the universe, God is seperate from God's creation.

If God is not the universe, God must have a subjective perspective on God's creation. If God has a subjective perspective, then God and I are equal in that we both have a flawed perspective of Reality.
How can God then say anything objectively and perfect here on earth, assuming God inspires people to do God's work? The bible in this scenario is now not perfect and some of the stuff must be weeded out by humans. Since all humans have a flawed perspective we all have equal choice in what we weed out, because of experiences color our perspective.

Note: In this scenario, God is perfect, but God's perspective is not, just as God's creation cannot be perfect, any creation of God will be looked upon fro God, and God will perceive it as flawed.

My mistake...for this assumption would be incorrect.

The universe is...this is observable, no assumption necessary.

Carry on with your whimsical musings.

Don't discuss, in this thread please, if God is or is not. The discussion is being conducted under the assumption that God is.

Sorry about that, DD. I (and others) was just dealing with another bit of Magus Rantus Threadus Interrptus.

If God is not the universe, God must have a subjective perspective on God's creation.

Given the existence of God, and that the universe is not God, that sounds reasonable. But you may run into some objections along the "omniscient, omnipresent" line: If God is defined as omniscient/omnipresent, then wouldn't he know or be able to sense the "objective" perspective?
