I have been busy with work and life and family etc. I will reply to your original post....

To the Vishnus. If your religion really took you to where you think it takes you, you wouldn't be going through the silly motions of comparing it to Christianity. It isn't until you realize that ALL opinions are false, that you will be where you think you are. So stop making comparisons (opinions). You're cheating yourself out of reality.
I think you miss the wholly sarcastic point of the thread.

And I would encourage you to replace the word vishnus in the second paragraph to "christians", the word christianity to "hinduism", and see if it changes the meaning in the least.

This includes your opinions, right?

These are your opinions? The ones you claim are false?

I don't remember ANYTHING in the rules of this forum that obligated me to tell the truth. Please have the moderator point that out to me.

Way to go from politesse to rudeness there haverbob! And yet, you still fail to grasp the point of the thread. You aren't also the user normal by chance are you? Did you ever get around to completing that little exercise where you replace your personal favourite gods with the hindi's?

Okay then - your opinions are pointless, because they are false. Of course, you speak only for yourself.

Actually, "nobrain" is the more popular insult. I've noticed that those people who feel compelled to make fun of the screen names of others, tend to be people with narrow and inconsistent worldviews.

My apologies. I presumed it took alot more than that to offend anyone in this room. I was just clowning around late at night after a few drinks. I thought it was friendly humor or "banter". I thought the ridiculousness of someone totally invalidating themselves would translate. Oops.

Yeah...I know. Doesn't concern me..

How did you know...uh...I mean uh no...I'm not, that's like a different user...or something. Yes that's right, I'M NOT NORMAL. There, I said it. I am AbbyNormal, not normal

Yes I have completed that exercise with the help of a Jane Fonda workout video. Do you still think I'm normal?

If you do, (and I doubt you do anymore) then let me add that you are thinking (or you thought) so because of the filter of your opinions, from past experiences, learned behavior.....Your opinions were what you heard me say and not what I was saying.

I'll clarify a little more about what I meant by ALL opinions are false in my message to Nowhere (Think it will get there?).

Yes I know it is. I just like Nobody better because nobody means no brain AND no body. Just thought I was taking it a step further. I'm won't tell any more silly jokes. There was never any real insult intended. Just friendly banter. I like to have fun while I exchange views, that's all.

Yes. That's your opinion talking.

Well....sigh... I realize that the validity of opinions in the face of reality is not really where this thread is supposed to go, and maybe I shouldn't have said anything to cause you to respond to me. Since you did, I'll try to clarify my statement as briefly as possible. But I probably will have no success. Whenever I go into this it seems as though I'm saying "Aged horse manure is the best for growing flowers", and people respond to that by saying "Oh yeah? Prove it. Perhaps you can tell me exactly how old the horse should be mister expert". People hearing their own opinions and confusing them with reality or in this case, what was really meant by the statement

There is perception and there is opinion and they are often thought of as vitually the same thing. They are not. It is possible to perceive something (see, hear, taste, smell...), without formulating an opinion (good/bad, good/evil, like/dislike....) based on experience or social conditioning. On the other hand, an opinion is not possible without the initial perception.

One can perceive true reality but one cannot have a completely true opinion of the perception, and if any part of that single opinion is not true, that single opinion is false. Truth can't be 95% non falsehoods and 5% falsehoods. Therefore ALL opinions (of EVERYBODY) are destined to be false. Some opinions and their subset members(desire, fear, pleasure....down to greed) can be MORE false than others, but false is still false. Opinions take the stimulus from reality and change it. Once it's changed (even 1%), it's no longer true reality.

Opinions fragment a continually moving and changing phenomenon and then they slap labels on the fragmented peices. That is what we are perceiving and not reality. We are not in a restaurant eating a steak. We are eating the picture and the description of the steak that we see on the menu. That's right, we're eating the menu. If we put aside the menu (opinions), we would see the steak that the waitress delivered 15 minutes ago (the steak that is getting cold). Then we see how different the steak is from the piece of menu that described it. I can't go to a famous river, put some of it in my flask, call it a "peice of river" and give it to a friend as a present (that statement may require a second pass). Sorry but this stuff is REALLY hard for me to explain. My best try for now.
