Sure, just try to not let it get off the forum topic without dragging it back reasonably quickly.

A related topic might be the morality of the press et alia using tragedies to boost sales and/or inflame passions.

But even that may, as 99Percent mentioned, fit better as a topic in the media forum. It's hard to tell some times just where a "crossover" topic needs to reside.
