Now I *know* I've offended the "big kids" - they are scrambling to reinterpret each other's words in a show of solidarity against the bad little newbie asking the bad questions... I *know* I'd better make like a tree or face the firing squad. I'll leave you to it.

I hope that no one is bothered by your asking questions. We welcome questions of all types around here (well, maybe not loaded or dishonest questions) (not that yours are loaded or dishonest, that was just an exception that occurred to me). That includes frank questions about touchy subjects, such as the morality or immorality of having sex with minors. I think that those of us who oppose such abuse do far more to support our position by arguing eloquently against those who would condone abuse than by simply censoring their ideas.

You are correct. In general, we allow abstract discussion abotu whether such actions are permissable, but draw the line at using the forum to plan to commit such actions or to describe methods by which to commit such actions.

A scenario comes into mind as I'm reading this:

The ancient Greek society (particularly in Athens) often partnered up and had sexual/love relations with young boys.

I'm sure the boys (around how old were they anyways?) were well aware of what was going on, and accepted the courtships presented to them.

I don't think any of them suffered much emotional trauma.

Well, at least I don't think so...

The point is that would the Ancient Greek society be immoral in that aspect?

Just an example. I'm not insinuating anything, just asking a question.

They had no concept of morality. A dog can tear a baby to shreds without the dog becoming immoral.
If you do something that you perceive to be morally wrong, then you are immoral.
Otherwise, you are just ignorant, wrong, or mistaken.

It's simple as to why children should not be exploited. It's abuse of the weak, which is unfair. It usually comes from the "Respect your Parents" commandment, which is VERY one-sided - this can lead to abuse, and children will give FEAR, not RESPECT.
