Neither.

In the Priestly opening to Genesis there is not "creation" but a reordering--you already have the "waters of the deep." He "cuts" the heavens from the earth.

Yes he did. Some 6000 years ago heaven was placed opposite earth and I don't know what they called it before that time.

You have a point,I never thought of it that way.

The heaven and earth must have always existed and this God supposidly rearranged it.

More evidence that the authors knew not what they wrote.

Most "creation" myths I am aware of involve some sort of reordering of the previous order or chaos. The idea of "something from nothing" is foreign to creation myth.
