Thumbs down

I explained to her that the Bible said Jesus was the head of the church and civil government had no authority.

Umm, ole' Kent musta missed the part about the rulers being given their authority by god, and that xians are supposed to submit to them.

Something like that. Basically, Hovind and co. didn't apply for a building permit before erecting their House of Bullsh.. Worship, and so they're being, surprise, surprise, cited for it. Their entire argument is that (1) they didn't have to get a permit becuase they answer only to God and not to civil government; and (2) as a religous institution, the First Amendment protects them from having to follow any rules whatsoever if it's against their religion (see #1). Its obvious what this reasoning is supposed to lead to. Had they just gotten a permit and paid the nominal fees like everyone else, they could have avoided this mess altogether. But noooo, had they done that they would be "submitting" to an authority other than God, and they just couldn't have that, because that would put them on the slippery slope where they might have to act like there are other people in the world who deserve consideration. Frankly, I'm tickled pink to see that their rationalization of their self-righteous greed has come back to bite them in the ass.

This is what I could gather from reading Hovind's take on the subject, which means that it's slanted as much as possible (if not filled with outright lies) so as to cast their side in a positive light. I tried a google search to find the county's take on this but came up empty. Could whoever is writing Mr. Mayo or whomever ask for a statement explaining the county's position? It would be good for milking as much humor out of this as possible.

You'd think Hovind had the wits to know the difference between a church building and a church as a group of people with similar beliefs. Apparently he trusts his fans don't know the difference.

I had seen this mentioned in the news as early as Jan. 11 of this year, if <a href="http://www.weartv.com/news/Stories/janurary/0111/bldgpermits.htm" target="_blank">this link works.</a> I didn't know that Kent Hovind owned Dinosaur Adventureland; only that there was an association (of course there would be, "creation science" places being rather rare.)

Does this mean he refuses to worship the religion of Buildingpermitism?

I can imagine what the poor building inspector's reaction must have been. Probably something like this:

Talking

This made me laugh....

<strong>Short summary of events in the battle between our ministry and the county:

On March 29, 2000 I, Kent E Hovind, was peacefully obeying the command of my Lord Jesus Christ, the Creator and Owner of the earth, by conducting the various aspects of our ministry when Escambia County building inspector Rene Pelotte and an assistant came onto our church property, in their official capacity, without invitation and in direct violation of our clearly posted "notice."</strong>

I could only read between the lines as follows;

<strong>Short summary of events in the battle between our ministry [GOOD] and the county [Eeevill]:

On March 29, 2000 I, Kent E Hovind, was peacefully obeying the command of my Lord Jesus Christ [who had just told me to sit down, shut up and eat your Captain Quisp....],

the Creator and Owner of the earth [Deed to the Earth is posted in this office next to my PhD certificate],

by conducting the various aspects of our ministry [such as donation extortion and theft, manipulation of natural history, defamation and libel against ATHEISTS, and the general spreading of lies and deceipt with respect to the origins of the universe],

when Escambia County building inspector [and obvious SATANIST] Rene Pelotte and an assistant [a disciple of the devil]

came onto our church property [which now has to be scrubbed and disinfected],

in their official capacity, without invitation and in direct violation of our clearly posted "notice." [which clearly states that we are separated from jurisdictional authority of the government, and anyone who does not buy in to our fairy-tale belief system and creationist myth, is a worthless heathen on their way to hell and is not a welcome visitor to this CULT!!] </strong>

How many centuries is it going to take before we eliminate this sort of ignorance?
