James H. is "Bede", citing his own website. He is obsessed with defending Christians from charges of book burning. You can find several threads here on that very topic. He has abandoned us as hopeless.

edited to add: and he actually has the cheek to say he thought that Bede's essay was fair - as if he were an outside observer!

Wow! Bede is such an A-hole and that guy "Mike" sure beat the pulp out of his argument about the book burning.

Do you know if the author has been informed that James H. and Bede are the same person?

Dear Anunnaki,

I have read the Greek book of Rassias after discovering the web site. As I am also reading several books on the history of the late Roman empire, I can tell you that he is not making up stories. I will try to give you information on whether his book is available in English.

However, I suggest to you and anyone interested in that era, to find the writings of Amianus Marcelinus (or Ammianus Marcellinus ? I am not sure about the spelling of his name in english). He is a main historical source and If I am not mistaken he is the source of Rasias on the death camps organized by christians in Scythopolis.

The death camp issue is information I have not yet discovered in any other book, so I am also very interested to check its validity and learn more.

Christians are even stupider than I thought.

So, as long as the numbers of people killed as a result of Christianity are kept low, then we can simply sweep that under the carpet or catagorise it as an "oops!" and then forget it?

So, as long as the Bible says NOT to kill someone else, then that automatically cancels out the fact that people HAVE killed in the name of Christianity?

Can the background (violent or otherwise) of a religion be cancelled out simply because the "majority" of peoples didn't participate?

Hi,
I was not insinuating that he was making anything up and I have no reason at all to doubt him. In fact what he`s saying would seem to strengthen my belief that almost everything to do with Christianity has been stolen from the Greek religions and philosophy. Their M.O. seems to be to steal and then destroy all the evidence.
Pleas keep me posted about the English version of the book.

Thanks for looking. I also have found no information about an english version of the book. I`d love to read it,but I`m certainly not going to learn greek in order to do it.
This is a real shame.

I wonder if Richard Carrier has been reading any of this, since he'd be one who knows where to look for primary sources.

It's clear that Christian persecution of paganism was much worse than what the early Christians had gone through at the hands of the pagan Empre; almost as bad as Christian vs. Christian persecution.

They don't whitewash the offenses committed by Christians...

Hmmm....I'd suggest the authors of that book have not only done a whitewash, but they've taken the rancid cake of Christian history, piled it high with synthetic whipped cream and put a cherry on the top!
