Danya and tronvillain, I think that such an agreement would be an unnecessary contract.

What might be more interesting is a debate on the immorality of cannibalism from your perspective, Malaclypse.
This is an interesting topic. I would prefer to engage in only one formal debate at a time, but if you open a thread, I would definitely respond. Or, if you would prefer to wait (or no ethical vegetarian were to accept my challenge), we could debate it formally.

This is definitely my intention. I will accept any reasonable request, by either the FD&D moderators or the challenger, as to format and tone.

As a vegeterian and moral subjectivist, I am certainly not going to accept this challenge.

I am vegeterian for ethical & health reasons, but I feel that those reasons apply for myself only.
Actually, I would like to hear some of those "vegeterian fundie" types to ethically justify imposing vegeterianism or worse veganism on the unconsenting sentient beings such as children and pets.

No matter how annoying it can be for adults to be exposed to witnessing of any kind, adult omnivores can certainly defend their views and it is not likely that anyone can force them to become vegeterians. Children and pets are another matter, they have no other option. Frankly, it makes me very upset to see vegeterian and vegan food promoted for cats which are obligatory carnivores. Since I strongly disapprove of factory farming, I feed my cats organically raised meat and organic cat food. But I cannot imagine not feeding them meat based diet. It would, imo, be just plain cruel to the cat and I find it hypocritical that those self-styled animal lovers would advocate such cruelty. But, I am forgeting that PETA would actually prefer if people wouldn't have pets at all. Blech.

Cool

And now, we take you to the veggie-fundy stronghold...

<no one to be seen, almost absolute silence, except for the wind, and the bouncing of a tumbleweed...>

Smile

(sits down with a bowl of ultra-spicy chicken wings, Buffalo-style (my home town), with a side of celery and bleu cheese, and a cold mug of beer)

There's nothing like eating meat when watching a debate on ethical vegetarianism.

Give the challenge a few more days. Some of the more voiceferous vegetarians may be away for the weekend, and might only be reading posts today and tomorrow.
