On the front of the card it says:

What a bunch of shit. These people are crazy if they think that their hideous story about a young, innocent man being tortured and killed for my "sins" will bring me peace.

Any day now, I'll be receiving my yearly dumb Xian tract inserted in the Xmas card from my elderly parents. Last year I enjoyed hearing it shredded. I think I'll do that again. They never learn.

Yup, I opened up one from husbands parents on Saturday, the thing oozed religion so bad it left corrosive little puddles in the mailbox and all over the walkway. Killed the grass. Spouted green fumes when I opened it.

Left the house to go to the Tally Gathering and when I got back home, I ask husband if he'd looked at the card? Yes. Asked if he'd mind if I didn't put it up with all the others. Already in the grabage! Good man, that one is.

I always get at least one holy type card at christmas but I didn't expect one from the local "Kleeneze" rep if she was looking for a last gasp order for christmas she completely ruined her chances.

My religious maniac aunt sent a cute one this year direct to my home address instead of via my mum, I think she knew not to send a holy one and I guess I'm forgiven at last for my roar of CRAP when she warmly informed me that my father was lying in purgatory a mere 4 days after he died last year.

I still maintain she got off too lightly that day grrrrrr.

I sympathise atheist_in_foxhole, I know too well the horror of these christmas cards they make me cringe.

Even though she is an atheist as well, my wife insists that we send out Christmas cards each year. This year, instead of just saying "whatever", I took an active part in picking out the card design we sent out. I think I'll do that in the future instead of bucking the whole card-sending thing in entireity.

It does not say "Christmas" anywhere on it. It just says "PEACE". I can live with that, if we have to send out something.

I really wanted to design my own card which said, "Mithras is the reason for the season" on the outside and had a discussion of the origins of such Xmas favorites as: The Tree, Exchanging presents, Hanging stockings etc. Then I decided I'd rather cash in on my family's goodwill. heh.
