Who says I need you or any atheist to share my outlook? You have your outlook. If we can't be united by our common humanity I'd rather bunk with the superstition mongers. Your position makes no sense. If we have nothing to hold us together, what holds these boards togther? What keeps people aping civility and compassion for others? You got more causes to your effects than you have any inkling or understanding about, DD. In Lakota, they call all that surrounds us Wakantanka, the Great Mysterious, and we are taught to respect mystery and not molest mystery with the poverty of our perceptions. I am an atheist, but the philosophy of the people that made me into this world resonates on this issue.

The MAJOR seems to have given me the right hint, so I can follow up Lakota's developments. The day you decided to "frappe la route", I had to be away for a few days so with their crazy/lazy new way of functioning, I was impeached to communicate with you.
One question which has nothing to do with the present forum, just discovered, Richard Davis by accident, very good songs from Quebec, could you tell me what is a "guigou" ?
I find this thread interesting, although posts are often too dense/long for my taste.. So see you around.

Default Hi Dolbac

Happy you found me on this forum, Dolbac. I suggest you contact me through email. This board, to be frank, sucks. [Racist commentary removed. -GJ] I am reminded why I started posting on the BBC boards in the first place, there is a better brand of [Racist commentary removed. -GJ] people there, a brand with fascinating and redeeming characteristics. Americans are just too damn culturally brainwashed and sphincter tight to be fun company. Oh, better add an approproate emoticon:boohoo:

They misunderstand me here, they think my every purpose is this emoticon:

But mostly they have no clue what I post so I either bore or anger them, but in both cases, because they are clueless. Such people, why waste atheism on them, where's a pandemic virus when you need one? I'd grudgingly get offed by it just to meaningfully cull their wretched herd.

Anyway, such a pleasant fellow as me obviously doesn't get a great many personal emails. Not because I run people off, which happens occasionally, but because I only respond to a select irreverent few, the ones I know can stand my extremes and I theirs. Hope to hear from you Dolbac.

P.S. I do not know this Richard Davis. Please tell me more about him.

Jimmy Davies:

You will refrain, in the future, from posting blatantly racist insults in this forum, as per the IIDB posting rules, which you agreed to follow upon joining. Here is a reminder:

Quote:
2) You will not post material that is knowingly defamatory, illegal, abusive, threatening, harassing, or racially offensive. As with anything, you will use good common sense. In other words, you agree not to be a jerk.

The emotion to find you+ the canicule "heatwave" we have had for the last two months made me confuse your name with the singer's, the guy's name is Desjardins, he sings in Canadian french, excellent quality of the prose, I wish we had some of that level in France. My @mail is quite symbolic, how do we proceed for you to get it, should I tell the mods I agree, I am too lazy to read their rules/functioning. The BBC thread seems to be collapsing, on top of that they had a two days breakdown, wonder what it was ?
I have not yet felt the participants here, does not seem to have the same quality/variety but seems active.
Even if I was moded a few hundred times there, I like the crowd, I had to sit heavily on my ego after two quarantines, it happens in business all the time, but I normally get paid for it.
Hasta la vista.

I'm not an american.

It's very impressive, by the way, that in the space of a month and under 30 posts you have us all pidgeonholed so neatly that you're able to judge us based on our race and nationality already.

It's a pity that your recent shots in the dark have had such utterly pathetic aim. I reckon you should rely less on magic mysterious intuition and more on actually getting to know people, if you want to judge them. For fucks sake, I can understand that don't have the foggiest inkling about my racial makeup, because I don't often tell people, but you should have at least been able to read a few location fields before passing us all off as american.

How does you not personally being an American change my life experience of being one, or of recognizing the same blinkered American attitudes on this board?

I am not here to communicate with people who don't like me after 30 posts, but to communicate with those that do. There are actually a few of those. What you think or feel about my posts is nice. Thanks for taking the time to read them. And if you don't read them, thanks for making the conscious decision not to.

Default A rather odd thread.

GunnerJ, I would suggest that PG was so caught up in the debate with his friend that he wasn't going to understand your comment conserning "proof" without a richer explanation. This is just a variation of the "evolution is a fact, and evolution is a theory" argument.

PG, (if you are still around) yes, evolution, in the sense of change in allele frequency over time has been observed. Even reproductive isolation/speciation has been observed. Thus, evolution is a fact. However, the theory of evolution, as an explanation of the mechanism of evolution, is provisional, and it is far from complete. Let me suggest that you read the following essay:

Evolution is a Fact and a Theory
http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/evolution-fact.html

In the very same way the "fact" of gravity is familiar to us all, but there really isn't a very good theory/explanation.

The side conversation centered around Jimmy Davies makes no sense to me at all. Jimmy, as a member of a voluntary association you agreed to the rules here by posting. If you didn't bother to know what those rules are, you should learn post haste and deside if you want to stay. The cross is in your court.

The complaints about IIDB's "anal" rules have been sent to the appropriate forum.

Now can we get back on topic again?
