I heard about Reverend Ike (Eikenroetter). He was a black radio preacher who went on and on about how great money and big cars were. I imagine it was even more entertaining than the white guys.

<shakes head, laughing>

Personally, I think the idea of showing up and not falling over is hilarious! Sign me up for that!

Another thing I'd like to do is show up to a charismatic church, with several friends (all sitting well away from each other), one at a time falling over, frothing (or whatever it is they do) and gibbering, and then, after we're all down, all stop, stand up, say "just kidding!" and leave. The utterly confused looks would be sooooo worth it.

I think the fundy son in law and daughter in law in Tulsa are Ass. of Gawd.

I'm not gonna darken Tulsa ever again. But then, that is no great loss. It's not civilized.

sorry it took me so long to reply, but yes, she did fullfill her promises. that is one of the funny things i have found about young religous females, all bets are off when they get a little randy.

as a side note, i would agree with the person that said you can't really judge speaking in tounges until you see it live for yourself. it has got to be the single most ludicrous thing I have ever seen any religous person say or do. it is more bullshit than bullshit itself is. pentacostals are also fan favourites of the whole "slain in the spirit" thing which ranks right up there with speaking in tounges.

I know someone who once said there was a reason why those pentecostal girls wear skirts instead of pants, and it didn't have anything to do with a religious dress code.

easy access baby!!

seriously though, i have a close atheist friend who will only date bible thumping chicks just because they are so freaky in bed (at least according to him) kind of funny when you think about it. maybe that is there subtle way of saying they don't actually believe the crap that is spewed at them on a daily basis.

Gotta be careful there. That freakiness often has awful hang-ups and guilt following it around.

I'm occasionally tempted to turn up at a pentacostal church with some friends just so I can get up and shout something in Sanskrit or Swahili to the effect that they're all nutters. Oooh, I could recite some of the Gita. And I should bring my friend who speaks Hungarian, too.

But I'm far to mild mannered (shy) to do something like that. I'll just have to wait until one of my friends does it, and I'll come along to laugh.
