DIANA & BORO-NUT

The image of a fish flapping about on the bottom of boat .....

What happened ..... What happened .... I saw the little shiny metal thing at the end of a black line ... and the next thing you know wham ..... just as was predicted by the prophets .... Oh if I had only listened .....

What sort of prophesy is it that can't predict exactly what will happen and when?

I could say, "You, Magus55, will get into a car accident."

Have I prophesied? If you do get into an accident, did I somehow "prophesy"? Or did I just make a lucky guess? How would you know?

Let's say I said, "You, Magus 55, will get into a car accident in 2004." Then, for some reason, you get into a car accident in that year. Did I prophesy? Or was it just a good/lucky guess? How would you know?

Now...let's say, "You, Magus 55, will be driving home from school on the evening of 17 Apr 04 on Hwy 1. At precisely 9:17pm, you will be struck in a head-on collision by a drunk driver, and you will be declared dead at the scene." And it happens, exactly as I said. Have I prophesied? Or just made a damn lucky guess?

Let's compare this to your OT "prophesy," where there is no timeline given (not even a vague one), and no specifics provided. Actually...without the specific information about when it will happen, you're already skirting "lucky guess," because I could make a comment about what I think will happen to a nation, and that "prophesy" can essentially be indefinite--so long as the nation continues.

This is why I see a contradiction between any presumed "prophesy" of the return of Jesus and the fact that Jesus said no one knows when he'd return. Actually, the "no one knows" part would preclude any attempt at prophesy, no matter how vague. And the "prophesy" you refer to is, without a doubt, that.

I still see a contradiction. Either that or no real prophesy from you religion. Your choice.

Actually i don't think any Biblical prophecy was given an extact date. "The messiah will be born of a virgin in a manger in Bethlehem" - am i missing the a time stated there? Prophecies are foreshadowings of the future that will come eventually - not on a specific date at a specific time.

Here is some info on current events and Iraq related to prophecy and the end times.

Hi Boro Nut
I think we are judged more on our lives than our beliefs. Ultimately I believe there are only 2 things we can take with us when we die. love and knowledge.

Chicken Girl now I have that song in my head...

You are absolutely correct, I do not comprehend how people with (arguably) fully functioning brains can walk around believing in mythical sky-daddies, without one shred of proof. Oh, but you just need faith! Oh, but you are not praying right! Blah, blah, blah. That is nothing but self-delusional drivel. Of course I can't comprehend it.

No I won't because "it" won't happen.

That's a good question, and the answer is that you are being judged, even as you speak. The final judgment is not so much of a trial, but the mere passing of the sentence. And the sentence is fair, because it is the sentence that you yourself asked for.

Jhn 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

The trial is this human life, and if you are rejecting Christ now, you are already being judged for it. You can count on no "future" repentance, for God himself will judge you for your rejection of him now, and prevent you from believing in him in the future, as part of the judgment against you. So part of the judgment for refusal to believe now, is to deny the possibility of belief in the future:

2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Welcome to real religion!
