Dear Grizzly,
Your differences are “differences” in name only, like how people are all wildly different cuz none of us share the same genetic code, or how snowflakes are all unique.

Differences can be found in identical twins, even in identical atoms if you look hard enough. But these are rhetorical differences that can only be appreciated by Poindexter types and those who can’t tell the forest from the trees.

The moral and dogmatic differences that separate Christians from Catholics, significant as they are, do not touch upon our abiding metaphysical commonality. We have both opted for the rule of faith in (to borrow from the Nicene Creed) “the seen and the unseen.” Whereas, you guys only believe in the seen. ‘Tis a pity. But therein lies the real and abiding difference – between you guys and us, not between us and us. – Sincerely, Albert the Traditional Catholic

Fwiw,
I aproach Catholics and their doctrine, with much more humility than I once did. I think it had to do with me coming to accept evolution and recognizing that the Pope was right on that point and the Baptists were wrong. I also find a spiritual connection between my self and many Catholics that is hard to define. According to First John in the NT it is a sign of a Christian to have a love for the brethren. I will say that there is a limit to what I can agree on with a "Bishp Shelby Spong" type Christian. I don't feel a connection there.
