Nick,

I've been listening to Xn radio for a couple of months (call it morbid fascination, like passing a nasty car accident and craning your neck to see--you know it'll make you heave, but you have to look anyway). It's slowly dawned on me why so few Xns have even heard real atheist arguments. Most listen only to the bullshit their "thinkers" tell them.

Yes, I've encountered a few (including some of our regulars) who do listen to the entire argument and weigh it. But they are, by far, the exception.

My parents (and extended family) are of the "listen to the Xn thinkers and repeat their dogma" types.

*sigh*

Diana, whenever I have to drive my car I listen to AM radio. The FM and cassette deck are broken, so I can only pick up a few stations. One of the few that comes in clearly is an xian radio station, so I listen to it. This certainly does explain quite a few xians quite well. They are stuck listening to these arguments and just simply aren't bright enough to think them through themselves. It certainly makes sense.

I think our samples are different. While the type we are talking about is still in the vast majority, there are still a significant amount who are willing to listen to my arguments. Perhaps I am just lucky enough to run into these people, or perhaps you are unfortunate enough to rarely talk with them. Who knows?

It still depresses me at just how many people fall for this stuff and simply don't consider any counter arguments which might show it wrong.

As funny as it would be, if a magician duplicated the feats of Jesus, then a lot of people would believe he is Christ. Even after he confessed his true identity, none of the Christians would believe it was a hoax.

Look at the Bigfoot hoax. The family of the perpetrator confessed and people STILL believe Bigfoot exist.

I think that even if someone were to duplicate the result of his miraculus acts using technology it does not mean that he didn't do that stuff. Or another way of putting that is: Just because there is a guy on the street selling fake Rolexes does that mean there are no real ones. If I may add too that most people have not picked up on the idea that he was a master taking the human body ouy for a spin to show you what this baby can realy do. He was demonstrating your power which you can tap into if we play our cards right.
