Lets face it. With all that has come out about the way the church is run and the attitudes of its clergy, how can anyone stay in the church? These clergy are lying criminal scoundrels.
I figure that people go because they are conditioned and are afraid of hell but they must be putting on thick blinders to still be a practising catholic.

These scoundrel bishops still allow a foul nasty child molesting priest to take the sacrements but someone who is divorced can not. They treat their followers like vermin and coddle low-life perverts because they are one of the club. Ugh, disgusting just thinking about the perverts.

Thank you Philosoft, that is what I thought but was a bit confused by the media reports and other discussions.

So victims and their families need to stop bringing this to the church and bring it to the police instead. Perhaps the media should be clear on this and get this out to the public. That way other victims can see justice done and the perpetrators tried by the law not covered up by the church. Of course you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

I do however wonder why the victims didn't go to the police in the first place?

Thumbs down

Yes, God's most wonderful Catholic Church is in trouble in the Far East now.

Quote:
The Roman Catholic Church in Hong Kong has confirmed that three of its priests have been accused of sexually abusing children.
The allegations - which cover the last three decades - are now being investigated by police.'
Quote:
In Austria, the Church has admitted that accusations of paedophilia levelled against its former head, Archbishop of Vienna Hans Hermann Groer, are substantially true.
And last year, a court in France gave a three-month suspended sentence to Bishop Pierre Pican, who was accused of covering up for a paedophile priest.'
Here's the link which will give you much more information.

</a>

Quote:
There's problems involving 200 priests in the Phillipines. No half measures there.
'Some 200 Roman Catholic priests in the Philippines have been investigated for sexual misconduct over the past 20 years, a church leader said as the clergy apologized for the abuses.
Again here's the link. <a href="http://www.ptd.net/webnews/wed/cx/Qphilippines-church-sex.Rymt_Cl9.html" target="_blank">200 priests investigated for sexual abuses in Philippines </a>

Where will all this end?
