Thanks, Tom. What you've said brings up more questions in my mind.

Was China ever mentioned? I find it difficult to believe that a civilisation like China(which, I believe, can trace it's origins back over 5000 years) could have been unnoticed by an all-knowing God. If God made a covenant through(or is that "with"?) Abraham, then his favouritism surely wasn't fair to the rest of the world.

It's interesting about the Mormons beliefs about Native Americans-but still leaves most of the world out.

This is probably a very simplistic way of looking at it, due to my lack of education.(Amos, you're not one of my old school teachers, are you? )

The fact is that all the books of the Bible were written by people in the Middle Eastern area. These writers had no idea that places like America, Austrailia, and South America existed. How could one of these writers mention America when he or she didn't even know it existed? I'm sure they wondered just how big the Earth was but they had no way to find out back in those times. In any case, these writers believed that their people and area was the center of the Earth and the primary focus of their God.
