Well, many muslims claim that the koran is the source of all science. If you can bear it, have a look at this thread.

Islam, however has always been pro-science. From its birth . There are over 900 verses in the Quran that describe natural phenomena accurately. The Quran describes the Big Bang, Origins of Life from water, stages of Embryology and even intricate concepts as plants having gender.

Christianity describes the Universe being made in 7 days as well as a Global flood. Islam has the Universe being in 6 "Eras" and has a Regional flood. Christianity has the world existing for 6,000 years. No such concept in Islam.

How do you simply expect a Muslim to embrace Atheism? It is not as easy for us as it is for You! Why do you generalise, believing that the attitude of all religions are the same. Why Do you try to confuse us just because you found a hole in Christianity?

Take the Quran for example: the juiciest parts are the ones that are based on the scientific tidbits of the time that have turned out to be false.
Well,to a certain point, that's true, but if there's any possible wiggle room, you can be assured that an apologist is already trying to invent an explanation. If the bible had described the four elements,I would be willing to wager, that there would be more than a few fundamentalists defending it.

I mean, really, look at the flood model adopted by some creationists. The scenario they are reduced to,in order to make such a thing work,is easily in the realm of fiction, yet they persist in trying to defend the undefendable.

The problem I find,is that,no matter the explination, the fundamentalist religious person has to defend it,in order to preserve their entire belief system.

No matter the absurdity, they must attack all beliefs that are contrary. After all,if they don't know what the nature of reality is,the truth as some call it,they have no possible hope of a life after death.

They must be correct, othertwise, they can kiss their afterlife good bye.

It has. His body just hasn't realized it yet.

I was in Atlanta a few years back, and traveled a bit of the south while I was down there... I have two words to describe it: Brain Dead

It reminds me of that joke from Last Comic Standing: How can you explain evolution to people who it obviously hasn't happened to? I think the monkeys would be offended to think that they evolved into that.

This is the same area of the country that is trying to either get the teaching of scientific evolution out of the schools, or get the teaching of creationism into it, and letting the students decide for themselves what they would believe... Is that kind of like teaching: Yes kids... Christopher Columbus discovered America. Then the next day teaching: Yes kids.. unlike what I said yesterday, America was really discovered by Sponge Bob SquarePants.

I felt like I had somehow traveled to a different dimension of ignorance and stupidity.

If I did learn one thing though... It's never take the 'truth of life' from someone who can't figure out the truth of dental hygiene. Or truth that the south LOST the war....

Perhaps you should look at my location and try that again.

What? Atlanta is in the same area of the country as Califorina, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Kansas. I didn't know that.

Actually, my southern school taught that the Native Americans discovered America.

Yeah it's amazing how you cling to your prejudices even after you've experienced a place for yourself. I'm sorry you went deeper into yourself.
