I find it strange that Pat is always wishing death and demise on his enemies and when they get it he says its God's work.

But when he himself gets prostate cancer it's not? Doesn't he think God was trying to kill him? Or did God want to have him enjoy multiple rectal exams for bashing homosexuals?

No. God blessed Pat with early detection. God probably even guided the proctologist's hand during the exams to make sure he was taking good care of Pat.

Betty Bowers prayer for Pat

Quote:
Call us timid, O Lord, but it makes us rather nervous when a man who just went through a bout of prostate cancer thinks it wise to ask his Creator to start going on a killing rampage, targeting people with cancer and heart conditions. After all, who will run the country if you take Dick Cheney from us? We are further concerned that you might respond to Brother Pat's imprecatory prayers in that mischievous, ironic way of Yours and, well, kill him, too. It is with your delicious penchant for technically giving people what they pray for in mind (like when John Kennedy, Jr. screamed: "Lord, do something to shut up that damned braying cokehead in Row A!") that we grow concerned for Brother Pat's safety.

I'm not sure how bestiality ties into this...why do people against this law jump to that? Is there an old bestality law that is tied to this sodomy law that will make bestality legal too?

To steal Roland98's quote:
Quote:
These people have to go.

They have overstepped their authority. They have exceeded the powers delegated to them under the Constitution. They have broken trust with the American people.

If this ruling is permitted to stand, it will open the floodgates to new litigation designed to establish similar rights by consenting adults to do certain things in the privacy of their homes. Some of those might be:

assisted suicide
polygamy
consensual incest
group sex
bestiality
homosexual marriage
homosexual adoption

Let's take a look at these possiblities:

Assisted Suicide
To steal a line from Bill Maher, I'm all for anything that lessens rush hour traffic. In all seriousness, as long as the person can be judged mentally compitent I say the choice is their's. I would be all for a caveat that unless you have a chronic, incureable, incapacitating, inevitably fatal disease you should be required to go to councilling before you can do this.

polygamy
Obviously this must be freely entered in to with full disclosure before hand. Despite how much it's vilified by various women's movements of the past few decades some women WANT and even aspire to a subservient housewife/breeder place in the household (This is not to say every housewife is a subservient breeder, put down the torches and gas cans, ladies). I say a women should be free to be anything from a CEO of a major corp. to as submissive a homebody as she wants or anything in between. Isn't that what "women's lib" should be all about, absolute freedom of career choice (and housewife is certainly more then enough work to be considered a career)? NOTE: I approach this from the obvious cultural bias that a man would have multiple wives. If a woman can have multiple husbands (within the parameters of the first line of this waaay too long paragraph) without them killing each other, then more power to her. :notworthy

Consensual Incest
There's 2 problems with this beside the obvious repulsiveness of such an act. 1) Most incest is NOT consensual and usually involves someone under legal age of consent. 2) There are solid genetic reasons not to allow relatively close relations to breed. That said I don't see what anti-sodomy laws have to do with this (or any of these categories really).

Group Sex
YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAW!!! The more the merrier!! I second the question: Group sex is illegal?

Bestiality
An animal, like an underage child, cannot give legal consent and as such can be cosidered a rape of sorts. I would argue about the risk of disease but anal sex can be arguably riskier than "normal" sex and fundies would jump all over that argument. Fuck 'em if you think I'd give fundies any additional ammo in their "moral" crusades.

Homosexual marriage
Marriage is a legal status as far as I am concerned, not a spiritual one. There are plenty of examples of homo (obviously) AND heterosexual relationships humming along just fine without a piece of paper from a church or the state acknowledging it. I just think a couple should be afforded the legal benefits of marriage regardless of the gender of the participants.

Homosexual Adoption
As long as the homosexual couple can pass the same standards as a hetero couple that wants to adopt, who are we to say they would be inferior parents? Plus, wouldn't the child that has 2 gay fathers be the sharpest dressed in the 1st grade? (kidding, kidding, you can put down the torches and gas cans, lads! **wink**)

This is not to say I don't find some of the things above personally repulsive. I kinda like me so suicide is out. I prefer a wife who will tell me to "fuck off" if I'm being an idiot then one who concedes to my every decision. Incest? Have you seen my family? No thanks. Group sex? Well actually..... Bestiality? **gag** No thanks. Homosexual? Well I have seen some she-males online that were pretty damn good looking. Of course the panties eventually come off and then I'm shocked, shocked I say! (Then comes the feelings of depression, not that I was attracted to a man, but that "her's" was bigger than mine ).

Other than incest and bestiality (the objections to, listed above, I feel are more pragmatic than a simple "because the buy-bull says so") none of the above negatively impact others and are personal choices the state should butt out of anyway. And before someone mentions that gay adoption involves a third party let it be said that hetero couples have not exactly been batting 1.000 in the "raise the child in the perfect environment" role and I see no evidence that gay couples would do any worse.

Wait, wouldn't that be fucking with free will? If God can put shit in your mind, you aren't exactly acting of your own accord, are you?

The other thing that really pisses me off about these people is their attitude towards assisted suicide. Again, we are told we are 'playing God' or going against God's will (or somesuch meaningless nonsense) while blithely ignoring the fact that if we hadn't 'played God' in the first place, most people wouldn't be living long enough to get cancer and other such dreadful diseases. If we are really serious about doing 'God's will', then we should abandon medical science altogether and allow people to live their natural lifespans and die when God intended, of whatever disease he has chosen for them.

From what I remember of the Bible, God will send a prophet(Pat Robertson) to declare the sins of the Justices and demand repentance by way of stepping down, then the holy man prays for the death or judgement of the one who isn't obeying. Good ole Pat! You know he's pray(prey)ing for their demise.
