Question Why are you an atheist?

Of these four arguments against the existence of God, which is most convincing to you, or which is most responsible for your atheism?

The closest for me was the third. I simply lack belief in god(s). The other three are pretty much N/A as far as I'm concerned. But I wouldn't say that god is "objectively invalidated"; there's just no good evidence that I've seen that would lead me to believe that a god exists. So god(s) are not objectively validated.

Gemma, I choose none of the above. As we all are, I was born an atheist and have always been an atheist. To me religion is irrelevant. What torques me off is the insistence by the religious that their "faith" is relevant when they have no evidence with which to back up the claim. They are part of the vast sea of people looking for purpose when everything around them screams out "there is no purpose". It is up to each of us to find a purpose to this existence and to do so without lying to ourselves. After all, what good is morality without honesty? If you must cling to your "faith" at least have the honesty to admit you have no evidence and because of that it may be no better than any of the other hundreds of thousands of religions that have cursed man's existence.

I like the idea behind the poll, but I would have to agree with ju'iblex on this one.

You're the one that needs to make an "argument," not me. In the meantime, none of the above.

An argument for what? I am interested in what you think.

The "existence" of "god."

I think it's irrelevant, to be honest.

That's a laugh. Nice try though.

I too choose none of the options.

I would like to invite you to have a formal debate with me. The topic will be "Existence of God vs Santa" I'll talk to Dr.Rick, maybe he'll set it up.

Don't deny the existence of Santa. I don't have a clue why so many people hate him and turn their backs on him. They will be sorry one day, but it will be too late.
