In his (and the general creationist) mind. He desperately, desperately doesn’t want evolution to be true, because it would mean that the old book he sets such store by would not be literally true.

Naturally, creationists, unlike most Christians, do not understand the concept of ‘metaphor’. How strange it must be for them to read the parables! New Testament Creation Scientists, if there are such things, must be looking for evidence for the existence of the prodigal son! Who was he? Where did he live?

BRIAN: Consider the lilies...

ELSIE: Consider the lilies?

BRIAN: Uh, well, the birds, then.

EDDIE: What birds?

BRIAN: Any birds.

EDDIE: Why?

BRIAN: Well, have they got jobs?

ARTHUR: Who?

BRIAN: The birds.

EDDIE: Have the birds got jobs?!

FRANK: What's the matter with him?

ARTHUR: He says the birds are scrounging.

BRIAN: Oh, uhh, no, the point is the birds. They do all right. Don't they?

FRANK: Well, good luck to 'em.

EDDIE: Yeah. They're very pretty.

BRIAN: Okay, and you're much more important than they are, right? So, what are you worrying about? There you are. See?

EDDIE: I'm worrying about what you have got against birds.

BRIAN: I haven't got anything against the birds. Consider the lilies.

ARTHUR: He's having a go at the flowers now.

EDDIE: Oh, give the flowers a chance.

BRIAN: Ohh. Look. There was this man, and he had two servants.

ARTHUR: What were they called?

BRIAN: What?

ARTHUR: What were their names?

BRIAN: I don't know. And he gave them some talents.

EDDIE: You don't know?!

BRIAN: Well, it doesn't matter!

ARTHUR: He doesn't know what they were called!

BRIAN: Oh, they were called 'Simon' and 'Adrian'. Now--

ARTHUR: Oh! You said...

EDDIE: Ohh.

ARTHUR: ...you didn't know!

BRIAN: It really doesn't matter. The point is there were these two servants--

ARTHUR: He's making it up as he goes along.

So I guess the answer is "NO." then?

You'd have to demonstrate that the claim is true before people admit to it.

Why, because we disagree with you? Are you actually reading anything we type?

Yes abiogenesis is an unsolved mystery.

However, so was gravity, evolution, viruses how DNA worked, where rain comes from, and all the other "amazingly complex to happen naturally there must be a god" phenomenon.

I fail to see, once again, why you single out abiogenesis but not other "unsolved mysteries" of science.

Also, if you learn about biology and chemistry, and how they work, then all of a sudden abiogenesis doesn't seem that spectacular (in a scientific "how could it have happened" sense).

Learn about biofilms - that may convince you that single-celled organisms can indeed evolve into multicellular organisms.

Learn about organic chemistry - that may convince you that given enough time and temperature and weird conditions (i.e. early earth), it isn't that "amazing" that amino acids and RNA molecules formed.

Question: What is the biggest proof of evolution to an atheist?
Answer: Life.
If you don't see my point then I can't see what more there is worth discussing. You obviously can't think outside the little box you have created for yourselves.

Abiogenisis is obviously not a problem for an atheist. That is if he wants to remain an atheist.
If you could be convinced of creation you would not be atheists. As atheists you will never see creation. Nothing will convince you against your will. All you have to do is fold your arms and frown and use your imagination and come up with a way somthing could have evolved.

You're confused, GeoTheo. My curiosity and rationality comes before my atheism. As a curious and rational person, I want to know the truth. My "will" doesn't keep me from accepting interventional creation by some deity; it's the lack of evidence for such a creation. If there was solid evidence for such a creation, I'd accept it.

Got any?

"Life" is evidence of an origin of life. By itself life is not evidence that supports either natural or supernatural explanations for that origin.

How could it have a supernatural origin?
