Default Hey Ohio People....

are you as upset as yours truly with looking on your state income tax form and seeing "With God, All things are Possible"?

I not only had to see that today while figuring taxes, but my city tax has shot way up because they have drastically reduced the credit I receive for paying income tax to a different city.

And my city uses a small portion of that tax to display and maintain a Nativity scene every year.

When will people understand that this is just plain offensive to many of us?

Should we organize a message campaign to the state to let them know we don't like this?

I am embarrased to admit that I haven't LOOKED at my tax forms yet. Planning to torture myself with them tomorrow.
Thrilled to hear there are words of encouragement on it.
I've never seen a nativity here (except put up by a church on it's own property). We have a huge display of lights every xmas. I don't remember anything non-secular, but I'll have to look next year to be sure. One is even a Paul Bunyon scene (???).

almost as embarrassed as I am with the fact that ohio is one of the states considering the "intelligent influence" or whatever theory to supplant (or as they call it "supplement") the teaching of evolution in the science calssroom.

but then we have dennis kunicich (sp?) who so far is the only vocal congressperson to actually speak out against the "day of prayer and fasting" that is inexplicably gaining so much support right now.

Hi lateralis - welcome to the boards.

That's "Intelligent Design" that the neo-creationists are pushing. You can read a lot more about it in the Evolution-Creationism Forum.

And Dennis Kucinich has come out against the Day of Prayer because he is a serious Christian and doesn't want his religion misused as a Republican war-mongering publicity stunt. But sometimes you have to take what you can get.

oh believe me, I don't love kucinich all that much. But on this one, I absolutley respect his stance, no matter what the motivation be.

I think the state motto should be changed to: "With Bob, All things are Taxed."

Regarding Kucinich, I didn't know much about him until recently, when he announced he was running for President. I'm fairly impressed with him so far, compared to the rest of the spineless Democrats that fellate Resident HappyCrack. I see though that he was solidly in the anti-abortion camp and switched over recently, but he claims it was not a political move.
