Oooh...I hope this one works. It probably will cost a mint and true, large asteroids don't hit every day, but if and when one does show up on a collision course, we'll be glad to have the means to prevent an impact. But how likely is this project to go forward given the recent shuttle disaster?
Any comments?

I just can't wait to hear what ELF and PETA think of this.

I think it's a good thing to start, but not for the reasons stated. As space travel does get easier for everyone to do, at least in a risky fashion, we will certainly see some folks, I am very certain, try to drop rocks on their enemies.

Defense will be necessary.

No, I'm not happy about the idea, but I think it's enevitable.

Goodness! I hadn't even considered the possible offensive capabilities of such technology. Hmmm....

I wouldn't be too concerned with the possibility of using this technology offensively. A nuke would be a far more cost effective way to destroy your enemies than altering the orbits of asteroids. Plus, it would be much easier to hit your enemy with a nuke than with a large space rock.

Phase One will be soon be complete,then.

Little do the fools realize,they are doing exactly what I want.

Now to prepare for Phase Two.Building a giant laser on the moon should be difficult,but possible.
