This country (as it’s ruled today) IS in trouble if too many turn their backs on god. The French turned their backs on god (and King) in the late 1800's and a revolution was born.

That’s why the Graham’s and gang have been promoted. Graham & co have been filling stadiums with the mentally blind and the mentally blind are what the republicans want most right now.

All the privileges the upper crusts and paid flunkies gain from this setup stands to fall if religion is exposed. The pro-feudal oligarchs like Robertson or the Faux-hired town criers like Insanity-Hannity are scared that people will see reality for what it really is and decide that working their fingers to the bone for greedy power hungry barons and cheap plastic amenities is not the way to live and raise a family in this world. Those guys would be reduced to regular nobodies and commoners overnight if we all caught on.

The greatest renaissance the world ever knew could begin. People would see the true importance of education. Most would spend more time becoming better educated and ensuring children are given the latest and greatest knowledge. The more educated a society is the less Gov't it needs and they don't like that either. Teachers and cops would be some of our highest paid and trained people in society with Dr.s and scientists.

People would pay better attention to what's actually good and what's bad for them.

Grrr. Sorry-off my own topic but had to get that Monday morning vent.

Spacy was quoting from an even older movie with Paul Muni who played the Devil in "Angel on my Shoulder" 1940's era, rather corny but not a bad movie.
That would be the earliest then, I think. I wonder if one of M. Twain's funny-wierd characters ever said it - almost sounds like something he would come up although I doubt he would be speaking for himself.

OKay, here's an amended version:

"The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to make people think that a really witty saying about him had been with us through the annals of time, when in fact it was spoken by Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects"

Another possibility, Ambrose Pierce "The Devil's Dictionary" ?? maybe.

I'll look further into it. Could be interesting.

That we replace silver spoon fed, self serving, simple minded "good ol boys" with actual intellectuals and humanitarians as our esteemed elites? That would be nice.
