Wink YECCH

A new YEC website, <a href="http://swordandspirit.com/_UPSTAIRS/YECCH/" target="_blank">YECCH</a>, with just a little bit of satire involved - Dr Don K Hotie is the bullwheel....

Mods - I was torn whether to put this in Humor, and y'all are welcome to move it there if you see fit.

Perhaps one of the other moderators might move it, but I'll leave it for now as being satire, it has both a humourous and a serious side of it in demonstrating YEC techniques and claims; several of the pieces of "evidence" have been used by YEC's in the past.

But strangely enough, <a href="http://swordandspirit.com/" target="_blank">the site</a> is run by seemingly-ID Christians, who offer anti-evolutionary arguments and materials in other areas, such as the essay <a href="http://swordandspirit.com/_STUDY/texts/Isevolutionfact.htm" target="_blank">"Is evolution really a scientific fact?"</a> that attempts to legitimize the terms "microevolution" and "macroevolution" and contains such gems of logic as:

Quote:
... as Phillip Johnson notes:"Darwinists know that the mutation-selection mechanism can produce wings, eyes, and brains not because the mechanism can be observed to do anything of the kind, but because their guiding philosophy assures them that no other power is available to do the job." And so it is not the actual scientific evidence that compels Darwinists to their conclusions, rather it is their anti-theistic worldview and naturalistic presuppositions that provides them the a priori foundation to approach this issue.
IDs poking fun at YEC's. What a world...

Kevin Dorner, what is wrong with that quote? A few weeks ago I read the book it was from, and actually found it convincing. I think Johnson is unique in having a good case for creationism, and while I am not a creationist, I think that point can't be laughed off.

From YECCH:

Quote:
HERE'S A WATERTIGHT THEORY FOR THE WORLDWIDE GENESIS FLOOD!

The hydroplate theory beautifully illustrates how rampant imagination can be a plus in creation science. An underground ocean of water trapped below the crust suddenly springs a leak and gushes water 40 miles into the sky and rains down and floods the earth. We are victorious again!

Quote:
DR HOTIE, OUR LEADER, BELIEVES THE WORLD IS YOUNG!!!

And he has the credentials and knowledge to back him up. Enough said! We declare victory!
What's so funny about this is that these are virtually identical to the arguments used by actual Young-Earth Creationists.

As Weird Al Yankovic once said, some claims are so bizarre that it's all but impossible to satirize them.

Cheers,

Michael

I disagree. I think that Johnson's case is weak. He brings no evidence to bear o the issue, merely tries to make evolutionists look stupid or biased. I think that he is an embarassment to Christianity.
