Clarice - don't be so serious. I'm pretty sure a lot of inaccurate information has been passed on about this evolving plot. I'm waiting for Rochelle Altman's revised review to be posted and for other experts to weigh in, and I eagerly await the documentary that is being done on it, not to mention the TV special (and I'm sure someone in Hollywood is already working on a script for an Indiana Jones meets Last Temptation of Christ mystery-thriller.)

Apikorus did opine:

Terrible news about the cracking. The owner has to be a frikkin' moron to ship it in bubble wrap alone.
Oh...I dunno....

First, he got some scholar to claim that this was the ossuary of the brother of the savior of humanity (according to Christians) and then shipped it halfway 'round the world in bubble wrap WITH two million smackers insurance. That doesn't sound like a "frikkin' moron", but rather a "connivin' insurance cheat."

Given the dubious provenance of the item itself and the questions that the Israeli Antiquities Authority and the Israeli police have, I wouldn't be surprised that insurance fraud has been rolled in with conspiracy to defraud the state and illicit dealing in antiquities.

Just a different perspective....

Hi Jed & Toto,

If what I said is inaccurate, please correct.
I don't want to pass along any info that isn't
right.

Thanx,

godfry, according to Israeli antiquities law, the ossuary might not even be his, in which case he could potentially be liable for any damages.

Toto, just wait until you see the bone box on TV. It's very small. It looks big in the photos on the net but it was small on CNN. The ancient ossuaries are said to be used for several members of the same family. That's hard to believe.

Cheers,
Clarice

This is Dr. Altman's final paper on the authenticity of the James ossuary:
