WHEREAS we will waste tax payor money on superstitious endeavors.

It's amazing what the government will spend money on.

About 5 years ago, I actually was riding down Route 666 in New Mexico.

It was hilarious! I looked out the windows, and there was *nobody else* on the road, for the entire time that I was riding on it. Of course, I never came into an accident, either.

Seriously, though, that's idiotic. Hopefully, the federal government will realize how inane this is.

They got rid of Route 666 in Arizona years ago. Whatever their real reasons for changing the numbering, at least they didn't try to say that people "fear that the devil controls events along United States route 666..."

This reminds me of buildings that do not have a 13th floor because the number 13 is supposedly unlucky.

Hmmm. I wonder if there are any route 13s anywhere that we should get rid of?

What a complete waste of time.

Meanwhile, Las Cruces, NM should keep its city seal, because despite what the ACLU says, the symbol has nothing to do with religion. Nothing at all. (Well, the place is called 'the crosses,' after all.)

And airports that have gates 12a, 12b, and 14... oh come on... call it what you like but it's still the 13th gate! Silly people.

I wrote a recent column in part about the 666 nonsense:
