Atheists lack a belief in a particular deity - there could be others not described in your Big Book of Lies (TM). The bible is a propaganda tool used to control people. That is all it is.
What evidence supports the view that God doesn't exist? Do you have all the evidence available in the universe? That is arrogance winston and you know it. There is no evidence that denies the existence of God.

And no, the thing supporting my view is reassurance from God himself. All the evidence in the universe can't top that.

How about the disproval of Biblical 'science' and the contradictory nature of the deity?

In other words, self-deception. How do you know it's not the devil leading you astray?

Behold, the fundy cuts his own strings! Thank you, Magus; this is what we've been saying all along. Glad you finally got the point.

This adds a whole new meaning to "hung on the cross. . . ."

Incidentally, Stalin did not murder in the name of atheism.

People did murder in the name of religion.

Not that facts seem to matter. . . .

Brilliant!

Way to go, Magus! You're making some classic statements in defense of your religion on this thread, that's for sure. First it's "Christianity is no worse than Stalin" and now it's "stop making generalizations based on 3000 year old laws that don't necessarily apply to today".

Why do we even need to argue against your religion, when you're doing such a good job of it on your own?

And atheists do seem to think they are better than everyone else in the world.

We do? News to me.

I seem to recall a quote saying anyone who believes in God is less intelligent than those who don't ( or something to that effect). Atheists absolutely think they are better than everyone else.

So you take one person's opinion and extrapolate that opinion to apply to all members of a group? Shame, Magus.

You think you have the entire world figured out, and know the answer to every perplexing question,

Umm, no, I've never heard any Atheist claim either one of those. That's is a typical Theistic claim, though.

hence why you speak of God not existing incessantly, with the attitude of fact, instead of belief. You know for a fact that God doesn't exist,

Yes, it's a fact that your particular God doesn't exist. But that's my opinion; I don't speak for all non-believers.

you know for a fact humans evolved from sludge and apes,

Umm, no, I don't "know for a fact that humans evolved from sludge and apes". I've never heard any "evolutionist" make that fantastic claim.

you know for a fact the world is 5 billion years old,

Umm, no, it's somewhere between 4 and 5 billion years old. Exactly how old we don't know for a fact.

you know for a fact that the bible is completely wrong and one huge myth.

I consider it just an average-sized myth, actually, or really a collection of smaller myths, legends and bits of real history. And bits and pieces are right, I reckon; it's just hard to tell which with all those mythical and legendary bits mixed in there.

Sounds like you think you know more than everyone else to me.

Umm, no. I've never claimed that, nor have I ever heard any Atheist claim that.

This is quite amazing, Magus! How does he communicate with you? do you have a special hotline? Or do you hear voices in your head? Or do you see writing on the wall like that chap in the OT, was it Belshazzar?

And, care to explain to me the point of answering questions on the Genetic flaws thread? Only reason you want me to post there is so you can come up with some sarcastic, mocking remark against me. You don't actually care about what I have to say - so why bother?
On this topic of your not answering questions, I must remind you that I am still awaiting answers on the Rapture Ready thread.

I am puzzled as to your motivation in coming to this board. You participate in a lot of threads pushing some sort of xian message. But as soon as people take what you are writing seriously and pay you the compliment of asking serious questions, you throw some vague insult and disappear from the thread. What do you expect from infidels? You must be aware by now that many people here know the bible at least as well as you do; they just don't interpret it in the same way. So do you think we are all suddenly going to see the light and think, "Silly us! Now Magus, who knows so much more than us, has shown us the truth and we must bow down and worship his god forthwith!"?

If there is one thing that is worshipped on this board, it is rationality. If you can show that in your posts, you will be treated with respect.

The point was, if you base all your generalizations of a group of people on things some of them did, then we should just consider all atheists as bad as Stalin, since he followed the same beliefs ( or lack thereof) that you do.

That's an interesting point, seeing as you generalized when you said "I seem to recall a quote saying anyone who believes in God is less intelligent than those who don't ( or something to that effect). Atheists absolutely think they are better than everyone else."

How do you know witches didn't actually cast real magic 3000 years ago?

No one has ever cast "real" magic at any time in history. "Real" magic doesn't exist, and if you claim it does, or did, the burden of proof is on you. People tended to be even more credulous back then than they are now, apparently.

The Pharaoh's priests copied some of God's plagues in Exodus, so magic apparently existed.

Magic was going on all over the place back then, huh? Moses was doing his magic, Pharaoh's priests were doing their magic, and witches were doing their magic. You had the regular battle of the Wands going on. Musta been like that scene from LoTR with Saruman and Gandalf duking it out.

And you wonder why some people don't believe this stuff, and consider it mythical?

What happened to that magic, BTW? Did it magically disappear some time in the last 3000 years? It seems that witches, Egyptian priests, and God's agents all lost their magical powers down the line somewhere.

Witchcraft and Sorcery is from Satan, hence why 3000 years ago, it was a crime punishable by death. Witchcraft was pure evil.

If witchcraft and sorcery is (sic) from Satan, then why are they not still a crime punishable by death under your God's moral system? It would seem that he, and you, would still consider them pure evil.

And killing witches just for being witches is "pure evil", whether or not they practice "real" magic (which they don't, and never have).

Since you didn't live 3000 years ago, how can you base the laws of the past on present day life?

How do you know I didn't? Maybe one of those witches used her magical powers to zap me to the present day.

Do you believe the witches in Salem actually casted real spells and magic?

No, but apparently your forefather Christians thought they did, or considered them capable of it. It's interesting how believing in one set of magical powers makes you believe that others may possess similar magical powers. So why don't you take your questions to them? You should be able to use some of your magi to communicate with them. Or have all such magical powers disappeared?

You have absolutely no idea what life was like during Exodus,

You're right. One generally can't get a very good idea of what life was really like from a mythical account.

so stop making generalizations based on 3000 year old laws that don't necessarily apply to today.

As xsquid said, you finally got the point.

In addition, I thought you were a Messianic Jew. If you are, what parts of the OT law apply to you and what parts don't?

Yes, I'll deny that. You're generalizing again, Magus. Just because some atheists have stated those things as facts doesn't mean that all atheists have, or that they believe that.

Mageth does it constantly, as does Biff.

And you generalized from two examples to "Atheists constantly state as a fact..."? Shame on you, Magus, you're violating your own point about the error of generalizing.

Yes, I claim it as a fact that your God doesn't exist (but I wouldn't say I do it "constantly"). But my claim in regards to the bible, as stated above, is that it is a combination of myth, legend and history.
