Post Jesus Poll

I've created a "Jesus Poll" on the ChristianForums.com site and I'd be curious to see what the regulars here would choose. There's no way to post a poll here, as far as I can tell, so you can see it at:

"Not divine, but a real person. The Gospel stories are likely just fictional exaggerations of his life as a religious leader."

Most likely fictional.

Possibly with one or more real figures or stories forming a basis for the stories - but carrying about the same weight as a movie poster that says "based on a true story".

Unhappy

Amazing! After i checked out your poll, RayK, i registered in that christianforums.org site with the handle "Great Infidel." I came across a thread titled "Gospel of Thomas: Real or fake?" and posted my two cents there about my favorite passage in that apocryphal work.

Lo and behold, a couple of hours later, i tried to load the same page and could not access it. I chalked it up to a faulty server and headed off to bed. I tried again this morning, to no avail. I smelled something fishy and tried the same page on another computer. Egads, i shouted- my post had been cleanly deleted! Then I tried to log in with my account and was immediately subjected to a blank page.

Those damn censorin' fundies!

Ender...

You were banned?

Why? What did you write that was so bad they had to ban you?

Oh, likely the truth. Fundies seem as allergic to truth as some people are to strawberries, beestings, and shellfish.

And regarding the poll:

Jesus - Entirely mythic, a combination of late Roman mystery cultism and other mythos.

Angry

All i wrote was that i admired the 3rd verse of the Gospel of Thomas, where it states that the "kingdom of God" is in you and elaborated on that a bit. Nothing too atheistic/infidelic.

Believe it or not, I was respectful, polite, basically kept on the kid gloves (i.e. politically correct netiquette).

I think the listed information (favorite bible verse, occupation, etc) tipped them off and the handle "great infidel" was over-the-top.

I'll be back with a vengeance! As soon as this evening!

Wink

When I go to ChristianForums.com I get a page saying the Admin has banned my IP Address... very interesting considering I've never ever been to those forums before.
