i always find it funny how ppl like to insert intellectually inept remarks of meaningless mockery that have no effect other than to ruin a nice discussion.

Yeah but then they take the kid to the doctor and thank gawd for the childs miraculous recovery.

What process did you use to arrive at inconclusive for what it does, but definitive for having? I exist based on my evidence so I should be able to reach your conclusions using the same methods, should I not?

good points. you most certainly can reach the same conclusions I have. In turn, I could reach the same conclusions you did.

This is what is amazing about this universe: two people can look at the same evidence, and one can conclude theism and one atheism (yes, for most ppl i believe atheism is a conclusion- but that is another topic), and neither person can objecitvely say the other is irrational.

i know that many atheists call theism irrational, but i know that it is not. just like you know that atheism is not irrational. (and I would not call an atheist irrational, which is sometimes disheartening to hear atheists call theists irrational).

The evidence is there for both of us....and you can conclude either way.

my existence is alone enough evidence for me to conclude there is more to me than natural material. Granted, that doesn't help your case much for theism, but it helps mine a whole lot!

You forgot the part about Gaws working "through" the doctor.

Default OT: Let's stick to the topic

It's also funny to see other ppl usurp a thread for their own vagarious purposes. The question is about medicine, the body and prayer. Not souls. Stick to the topic.

Medicine is more effective for the body than prayer because prayer is relatively useless for the body. Prayer (e.g., meditation) does have a calming effect on the body and can reduce stress - which has many beneficial effects for an individual. However, once disease sets in, it is good old *human* technology that has the ability to counteract the disease. Not divine intervention by prayer.

It's intersting how prayer to any god can have the same calming effect. Also, magic crystals, herbal tea, and biofeedback may provide similar benefits, but theists will claim that it's their god doing the magic.

the thread is about medicine and prayer...and prayers ability to heal. my comments were perfectly valid. your attempt to bash the xian: failure.

I am well within the boundaries of the post.

Besides, what fun is it to have a bunch of atheists pat each other on the back? Your forums would be boring if there were no theists around to offer their view points. So your attempt to shove me out of this thread will fail.

the OP questions prayer's use vs. medicine, and I respond by saying prayer is not intended to heal the body. If God exists, its ultimate function is for communion with God, not to get free healings.

Hey, I failed politesse 101. Sue me. I see BS, I call it. I always call it like I see it. And the cynical little side of me likes to nip those who don't fool others, but rather themselves.

Maybe that is the problem as I have yet to see any evidence. My atheism isn't a conclusion, it is a position arrived at naturally. The unnaturall assertion of theistic beliefs failed to take hold due to my natural skeptisim. I would hold that theism is irrantional due to the fact belief is contengent upon exposure. If there is no exposure to a particular belief than you won't spontaniously take up that belief.

Where is this evidence?

Again you make the same assertion but fail to explain a method for which another person could reach your conclusion. I have read most of your posts, and you say you are looking for the truth, but yet you also seem to accept things for which you can supply no path in which the truth can be examined.
